Stage Manager and friend, Alexia Guzmán Hayes sitting for my ongoing AFTER Performance photography series. These portraits were captured immediately after performing in the play “Girl on an Altar” by Marina Carr, produced by Irish classical Theatre Company in Buffalo, NY, and directed by Anderson Carr. All actors, the director, the costume and stage designer, and our stage management team sat for me and were asked to react to a word or line of their choosing from “Girl on an Altar” while I photographed. Alexia was our Assistant Stage Manager, Wardrobe, and Make-up Supervisor and is reacting to the line “Did no one ever tell you that the sweetest revenge is to forgive?”

Every time I’m part of a production, as an actor or director, my gift to everyone is a portrait! I’m glad they all humoured me!

✨For years, I was ashamed to say that I’m Puerto Rican and had never visited the island. But here’s what I’ve learned: being Puerto Rican isn’t attached to a place. It’s in your blood. It’s in your culture and language. It’s in the food you grew up eating, the music that moves you, the family that surrounds you. It’s knowing who you are and where you come from—even if you’ve never stood on that soil.

AND THEN THIS SEPTEMBER
I EXPERIENCED IT FOR THE FIEST TIME!!

From the moment I stepped off the plane my heart knew that this was the home of my ancestors. I finally understood why they call it La Isla del Encanto. The breathtaking views, the cobblestone streets of Old San Juan, the sweet beautiful song of the coqui, the morning roosters greeting you before you have had your first cup of cafecito, and every plate of mofongo felt like a warm welcome. This trip wasn’t just about exploring. It was about family. It was about love. It was about celebrating my prima becoming a WIFE.

The whole beautiful bride crew made it one to remember, we even brought Zumba with Erica to Puerto Rico in the rooftop of the Airbnb!!

Some trips change you.
This one definitely did. 🇵🇷
Puerto Rico, you were the perfect opening act. ✨
Act 1: CHEETAHLICIOUS BEFORE THE MRS.
Act 2: THE HAYES WEDDING 💒

P.S. To mi gente en Puerto Rico, the ones who wake up without water, who go to sleep without electricity, who keep going even when the lights go out or water runs dry. You are the heartbeat of the island. Your resilience is breathtaking. Your spirit is unbreakable. I see you. I honor you. Y los llevo en mi corazón. 🇵🇷❤️

JUNTOS SOMOS AMÉRICA🇵🇷

What an honor it was to celebrate culture and pride at the 24th Annual Puerto Rican & Hispanic Day Parade on Niagara Street this past Saturday!

Surrounded by community, music, tradition, and good neighbors, we were reminded of the unity that makes Western New York such a special place.

This year’s celebration was even more meaningful for RCG as our CEO, Luis Rodriguez, proudly served as the Grand Marshal. We’re incredibly proud to celebrate this milestone and the impact he continues to make in our community.

¡Viva nuestra comunidad!
