While Sawyer Utah (@sawyerutah) may be considered young for the industry, he has already built a name for himself. Utah has been credited alongside fellow artist Zach Hood with writing and producing hits like “Middle of Nowhere” and “Beautiful As You,” garnering over 10 million combined streams. “How’s everything been going?”
“Been pretty good! Just BUSY busy.”

If you’ve seen me in the past several months, I’ve been busy busy because The Icon Collection for @dspraofficial comes out TOMORROW. I’ve been designing, producing, shooting, and preparing for the drop, and it’s finally almost here.

I created The Icon Collection around two icons of Filipino culture: the Philippine Eagle and the Sampaguita flower — symbols that represent the strength and beauty displayed by all Filipinos. Despite imperialism and colonization, natural disasters, and poverty, we’re still the kindest, happiest, and most welcoming group of people in the world. We have a vibrant and ever-evolving culture, we connect with other people, and we bring warmth and joy wherever we go.

This collection celebrates all of that.
- The DSPRA NT Jerseys celebrate how people of all cultures across the globe connect over a simple sport.
- The Eagle Tees celebrate the strength, resilience, and power of diaspora communities.
- The Sampaguita Baby Tee celebrates the beauty of diaspora communities.
- The Passport Tee celebrates immigrants, people of color, the process of finding home, and my family’s love of travel.
- The Bandana Scarves celebrate how Filipinos and other communities from all over the world have connected and evolved together here in the States.
- The Twin Blooms Hat celebrates the dual identities of all those who belong to a diaspora.

I centered the photoshoot around connection and joy. Almost all my favorite shows are friend group sitcoms, so this shoot pays homage to the connection and joy we love to see in those shows (and in real life).

As my journey at NYU comes to an end, I’m endlessly grateful for all my friends that I’ve made along the way. As someone who didn’t have many friends in high school and had a hard time finding community and connecting, the people I’ve met in the last 4 years have shown me so much love, care, compassion in a way that I never thought was possible. From a rough freshman year, to studying abroad in a country I’ve never been to by myself, to my first IMA showcase, to my internship and finally to a strong senior year, I wouldn’t change my journey in any way. I’ve grown and learned a lot and I know that I’ll still continue to overtime. Thank you New York, you will always have a special place in my heart. As I go into the next chapter of my career and life in getting a masters at @carnegiemellon , I’m looking back and carrying all these memories with me. 🩷
