Raf Simons SS2013 “Holo Runners” — a futuristic classic from the moment they hit the runway.

Metallic, mirrored, and almost liquid in finish, the Holo Runners arrived in 2013 looking like nothing else in luxury footwear. Built with a sculpted, chunky silhouette long before “dad shoes” became a category, the pair was released in various colorways and featured lots of holographic parts that shifted between silver, violet, blue, and oil-slick tones under light. Lightweight yet visually heavy, aerodynamic yet sculptural, they stood at the strange intersection of performance running and high-fashion experimentation.

Every panel was engineered from synthetic materials designed to hold the mirror effect without cracking — a technical challenge at the time. Underneath, a thick midsole delivered the exaggerated volume that would later become a Raf trademark. No collaboration, no corporate influence: these were produced entirely in-house by Raf, making them one of his most important pure-design sneaker statements.

They debuted during Raf Simons’ Spring/Summer 2013 show in Paris — a pivotal week marking his first haute couture season at Dior. SS13 was Raf revisiting the DNA he had built since 1995: youth, rebellion, emotion, and the ability to fuse classic tailoring with sportswear. Models walked in sharp suits and wide shorts, grounded by the gleaming Holo Runners, creating a silhouette that felt like a glitch in time — clean, modern, and completely new for luxury menswear.

Only years later would Raf partner with adidas to create the Ozweego series, but the blueprint started here. The Holo Runner wasn’t just ahead of its time — it predicted the entire wave of high-fashion runners that defined the 2010s.

Today, the pair sits firmly in the archive canon: a rare artifact from a moment when Raf Simons reshaped what a designer sneaker could be. Not just footwear, but a piece of fashion history — reflective in every sense.
