Grateful for everything they’ve poured into this program.
Now it’s time… the road to Rome, GA and the SAA Tournament begins.

The 2026 senior class leaves Centre Baseball better than they found it.

The winningest class in program history — built on toughness, leadership, and brotherhood.

Grateful for everything they’ve given to this program!

The Alhambra
Built by Muhammad al-Nasr (al-Ahmar or Muhammad I) in the 13th C as a palace stronghold for the last remaining Muslim kingdom in the Iberian peninsula.

The Nasrid dynasty made the palace and fortress a showcase of the finest Islamic art, design, and expert craftsmanship with tile (7), carved stucco (6, 9, 10), poems and quotes from the Qur’an in calligraphy relief, wood work and intricate painting— all precise and meticulous with beautiful geometric patterns.
Vaulted ‘muqarna’ ceilings with thousands of interlocking pieces create complex depth and richness (as in coffered ceiling photos 4, 5, 8)— evoking the celestial grandeur of the heavens.

When Granada was conquered in what is often called the Christian ‘reconquest’ Ferdinand of Aragon and Isabella of Castile used the palace as a second home and added to it, as they quickly expelled all Jews and Muslims from the cities they’d made into Europe’s greatest centers of art and architecture, intellectual exchange, and mostly peaceful coexistence.

Successor Charles V, enriched by Spain’s plunder of the ‘Americas,’ built an additional palace on the property but never occupied it; it is now a museum. Subsequent kings added fortifications, gardens, pools, and a church.

Granada churches arose on sites where mosques and synagogues had stood; minarets turned into bell towers. One church (Santo Domingo—18, middle left) was the center of the ongoing inquisition that came with ‘los reyes cristianos.’ Also pictured: Granada Cathedral, Santa Maria, San Miguel Bajo, San Nicolas.

The Alhambra is the third most visited site in Spain, behind Sagrada Familia in Barcelona and The Prado in Madrid.
