This past weekend I completed the IBJJF World Championship. I took third place in a very tough, lightweight juvenile division. I would not how been able to accomplish this without the help of my teammates Tim, Matt, Maryssa, Ryder, Carlos, Eli, Jay, Izzy, Rena, Nando, Amanda, Olivia, and the Sunday Goon Squad. During my camp, you pushed me the hardest and taught me how to improve and adjust my Jiu Jitsu. Thank you for all your hard work and dedication. I felt more confident going into the tournament this year than last year. Thank you to my mental coach and training partner Daisy. She kept me focused, helped with schoolwork, and supported me when I needed someone to talk to.
I want to thank my Coaches Chris, Mylene, Brandon, Talia, and Evan at Engle Jiu Jitsu. Thank you for not only teaching me the skills of the game but also instilling in me the values of discipline and perseverance. Your mentorship has shaped me into a better athlete and better person. I am forever grateful for your tireless dedication and countless hours spent helping me improve. Also, Thank you to Coach Walter, head of the Cascao Jiu Jitsu. You’ve created a fantastic organization, and I’m happy to represent your team at tournaments.
I also want to Thank my sponsor Orry Pounders of Nexa Mortgage. While I do some fundraising with salsa sales, Orry’s contribution helped the most. Maui 2023 with some of the @englejiujitsu girls! Everyone keeps asking, how was the trip? Honestly, It was everything!! We did it all. I couldn’t ask for a better group of girls to go with. Always remember to surround yourself with good people and always roll with the punches. It is usually unheard of to be with so many girls in a house where we all get along, we were on time or early for everything, no fights, and we all got to do what we wanted. It was a honor to teach a seminar @hanaloaschoolofjiujitsu @maui_grappling_academy . It was a blast and everyone was so welcoming. We appreciate the hospitality. Thank you ladies for the memories.
