What has taken damn near all of my focus since August.
This project has been challenging, but I think it helped me grow as a director, collaborator, and artist.
I’m really proud of the work everyone gave for this,
from all of the actors to every designer.
I truly believe it’s going to be a beautiful experience.
Catch it before it’s gone.

Brotherhood is built through consistency, connection, and showing up for one another.

At this month’s M3 Breakfast, we came together to strengthen those bonds, share space, and continue building a brotherhood rooted in growth, accountability, and community.

We were honored to hear from the women of the African-American Shakespeare Company @aa_shakes about the power of theater, storytelling, and creating opportunities for our communities to experience the arts.

We also got to celebrate the talent within our own brotherhood with a performance from M3 member Von @demigodvon

These breakfasts are about more than gathering around a table. They’re about building relationships, exposing ourselves to new experiences, and creating space for men to grow together.

Happy National Black Theatre Day!

My body is tingling with joy, gratitude, and passion as I share a few theatre memories, including the 2018 Production of ‘For Colored Girls…’ @aa_shakes in San Francisco directed by Elizabeth Carter @boolizard, written by Ntozake Shange. Thank you 🫶🏾

There are some productions that grow you, celebrate you, and affirm you as an artist, and for me, ‘For Colored Girls…’ by the late Ntozake Shange is one of them. #ladyinblue

Black Theatre History: In 2018, our ‘For Colored Girls…’ production in San Francisco @aa_shakes was the last ensemble to receive a blessing from ‘For Colored Girls…’ playwright Ntozake Shange to perform the play before she passed away in October 2018.

Our entire cast and crew was female and the @aa_shakes executive director is a black woman @sherri.young.762. 💃🏾

I was blessed to receive a @theatrebayareasf award for my performance as #LadyInBlue.

What an honor.

Our FCG ensemble had rich conversations with the original cast members of ‘For Colored Girls…’. Receiving their historical wisdom and blessings during our production was a gift.

Shange developed this Choreopoem in the Bay Area, right outside of Berkeley, CA. To perform ‘For Colored Girls…’ in the Bay Area was truly an honor! 🌟💫

Blessed to be a part of #FreeTheArts 2022 cohort led by larryjean, a celebration and study of contemporary black theatre artists such as @katorihall and @domorisseau.

My talented sister of the screen & stage @anderlyn_centeno at the historic black-owned @therobeytheatrecompany in LA after her performance of ‘A Heated Discussion’ written by Levy Lee Simon and directed by Ben Guillory in 2023.💫

The true gift of theatre is the friendships & family built along the way.

"The Brothers Size by Academy Award-winning playwright Tarell Alvin McCraney is a powerful contemporary drama that blends the rich storytelling traditions of Yoruba mythology with the realities of modern life in the American South. Part of McCraney's acclaimed Brother/Sister Plays cycle, the play follows Ogun Size, a hardworking auto mechanic, and his younger brother Oshoosi Size, who has recently returned home after incarceration and is searching for a path forward. Their fragile reunion is complicated by the arrival of Elegba, Oshoosi's charismatic former friend whose presence challenges the brothers' hopes, loyalties, and visions for the future. Inspired by Yoruba spiritual archetypes and themes of destiny, freedom, and transformation, the story unfolds as a compelling exploration of brotherhood, responsibility, and the enduring bonds of family.

Poetic, humorous, and deeply moving, The Brothers Size has become one of the most celebrated American plays of the 21st century. McCraney, whose work earned international acclaim and who won an Academy Award for the screenplay adaptation of Moonlight, brings his signature blend of lyrical language, music, ritual, and emotional truth to this unforgettable story."

Location: Theatre 33, 533 Sutter Street
San Francisco

The play runs from October 6th to November 1st. If you can, try to make it out to watch! 🐊
