Early in my career, the thing I thought was my biggest setback turned out to be the reason everything else happened.

We’ve all been there. The offer that fell through. The door that closed. The “no” that felt like the end of the road. But looking back, so many of those moments weren’t rejection. They were redirection.

If you’re sitting in a disappointment right now, wondering why something didn’t work out, hold on. Delays are not denials.

Save this for the next time you need the reminder. You’re qualified and it will all work out. 📈

I made under 20K at my first TV job. Here’s how I got creative and negotiated a deal without an agent. A few of these work in ANY industry.

Most people only push back on the salary number. But when a company says they can’t budge on money, there’s almost always wiggle room somewhere else. Relocation, time off, an early exit clause, they just don’t advertise it. You have to ask.

So whether you’re in TV or not, take this with you: the worst they can say is no.

Save this for your next offer. And if I missed a good one, put me on in the comments ⤵️

🎬 SOUL CINEMA SUNDAYS: JUICE 🎬

Thirty years after the death of Tupac Shakur, we’re bringing JUICE back to the big screen to honor his life, music, influence, and lasting impact on Hip-Hop and popular culture.

On Sunday, September 20 at 7 PM, join us at The Plaza Theatre in Atlanta for a special screening of JUICE, followed by an after-film panel discussion exploring Tupac’s legacy and the questions his death left behind.

🎤 Hosted by poet Abyss Graham

🎬Before the film:
We’ll feature a special pre-film video from Atlanta MC Stahhr, featuring her song “Respect Due: Ain’t No Fun.”
Then, after the film, join us for a conversation:

Moderated by Ernie Suggs of UATL/AJC

After-Film Panelists:
Joe Stewart, Hip-Hop professor at Clark Atlanta University
 Sonia Murray, entertainment journalist

What happened to Hip-Hop after Tupac?
What did his death mean to the culture?
And what does his legacy look like 30 years later?
What’s happening with the trial, and why did it take so long to happen?

We’ll explore these questions and more…
