Many of you have messaged me after seeing my reaction during our latest city council meeting. It’s simple:

Either Flock is incompetent or untrustworthy. Either way, it’s unacceptable and in my opinion no one should be in business with them.

I already had 4th amendment concerns regarding ALPRs, but being told one thing while another is happening?

If it can happen in Our City, ask yourself what else is happening in other cities with Flock…this isn’t an ideological issue. It’s an American issue

Demand Accountability in the Karmelo Anthony Case

TheER Action is calling on our community, our allies, and every person who believes in fairness to stand with us today.

A photograph has surfaced showing Judge John Roach Jr., the Collin County District Attorney, and the father of Austin Metcalf — the deceased student at the center of the case — socializing together in a private setting.

This is not a small issue.
This is not a misunderstanding.
This is a direct conflict of interest in a case where a young Black man’s future is on the line.

Judges and prosecutors are required to maintain strict neutrality. They are required to avoid even the appearance of bias. When the judge, the DA, and the deceased student’s father are seen together socially, it destroys public trust and raises serious questions about whether Karmelo Anthony can receive a fair trial in Collin County.

We refuse to stay silent.

🚨WHAT WE ARE DEMANDING!
1. Immediate review by the Texas Commission on Judicial Conduct
2. Independent evaluation of the District Attorney’s involvement
3. Consideration of judicial recusal or mistrial due to compromised impartiality
4. Transparency and accountability from all officials involved

This community will not accept a justice system that operates behind closed doors, among friends, at the expense of a young Black man’s life and future.

🚨WHAT YOU CAN DO RIGHT NOW!
-Contact oversight bodies and demand review
-Stand with Karmelo Anthony and his family
-Hold Collin County officials accountable

Justice cannot exist where bias is allowed to thrive.

TheER Action will continue to fight for transparency, fairness, and the protection of our community.

Leadership Austin leading the way as always by encouraging engagement with those who are from different backgrounds, not shying away from difficult discussions, and creating leaders to help solve the most pressing issues facing Our Community.

No wonder they called this the “Courageous Leaders Luncheon”…

…and no wonder the room was completely packed.

Thanks goes to Jill Goodman and everyone involved who put this important event together

Still reflecting on the amazing time we had at the African American Lawyers Section Annual Summit & Award’s luncheon yesterday. As this year’s Chair, the energy in the room was truly something special. I am grateful.

A very special thank you to our Summit Chair Nikki L. Chriesman-Green and Summit committee for your leadership. You set the tone for everything this summit represented, and it showed in every detail. Also, a huge shoutout to @tamulawcso for being such hospitable hosts to the event as always!

Thank you to all of our panels who provided amazing information and knowledge for us to grow as attorneys and practitioners.

We were also honored to have our dean’s panel join us, representing several major law schools across Texas. Thank you for investing your time and insight into the next generation of legal leaders.

A huge shoutout to our high school and law school scholarship recipients. You are the future, and we are so proud to support your journey. Keep striving, keep leading, and keep believing in what’s possible.

And congratulations to our outstanding award recipients:
• AALS Distinguished Jurist Award: Hon. Jason K. Pulliam
• AALS Trailblazer Award: Rep. Nicole Collier
• AALS Outstanding Achievement Award: Paul Blocker, Esq.

Your work, leadership, and impact continue to inspire us all.

To everyone who showed up and poured into this space, thank you. This is what it looks like when we build, support, and uplift one another. Looking forward to continuing this momentum all the way to our Annual Meeting in June. 💛

I’m honored to serve as a panelist this weekend at the African American Lawyers Summit.

We’re talking about something that doesn’t get said enough:
Mental health, burnout, and the pressure high-performing professionals carry.

My work sits at the intersection of neuroscience, trauma, and real-life application, and I’m looking forward to sharing tools that actually help—not just sound good.

Last night on the campaign trail in Dallas, I had the pleasure of attending two outstanding gatherings with members of our legal community.

My first stop was the Black, Brilliant, & Barred Mixer, hosted by the JL Turner Legal Association, L. Clifford Davis Legal Association, and the African American Lawyers Section of the State Bar of Texas. The evening highlighted the strength, leadership, and excellence that continue to shape our profession.

Stop #2 was the Mardi Gras Social hosted by the Dallas Association of Young Lawyers — a lively and welcoming event that showcased the energy and engagement of the next generation of Texas attorneys.

It is truly a joy to meet and visit with so many lawyers in a great city like Dallas. Thank you to everyone I had the pleasure of meeting in person. I look forward to many more introductions in the months ahead.

If we didn’t get a chance to connect, please feel free to reach out by email — I welcome every opportunity to visit and listen. Reach me directly at vote@raythomasforsbot.com.

Rest in power to Reverend Jesse Jackson — a giant in the fight for civil rights, economic justice, and political empowerment.

Because of leaders like him, many of us stand where we stand today. May we honor his legacy not just in words, but in action. ✊🏾
