An ode to love - I couldn’t be more grateful and proud to call these two my friends in life.

What an honour it was to share such a special weekend with you both.

Congratulations on forever James & Camilla! 🖤

The beauty of fireplaces

The beauty of a fireplace isn’t just visual, it’s psychological. Watching a real flame has been shown to reduce stress, which is part of why fireplaces still feel so grounding today.

Before central heating, they were the center of the home, used for warmth, cooking, and gathering. That role still carries over, with spaces naturally built around them.
Materials change everything. Stone, brick, or steel can completely shift the atmosphere.

Wood-burning fireplaces are only about 10–20% efficient, while modern gas and electric ones reach up to 70–90%.

Still, nothing replaces a real flame… always moving, never the same.

The beauty of being home alone

Being home alone turns space into something personal again. Every room feels quieter, more intentional. There’s no need to perform or fill silence, you just move at your own pace, noticing things you’d usually overlook. The way light shifts across the floor, the sound of nothing, the comfort of being fully in control of your environment.

It’s one of the few moments where time feels unstructured. No interruptions, no background noise from other people. Studies have shown that short periods of solitude can improve focus and reduce stress, especially when it’s chosen, not forced. It becomes less about being alone, and more about being present.

The art of a shared space

Shared spaces are designed for use, not symmetry. Layouts focus on movement and interaction, using flexible seating, rugs, and movable pieces so the room can shift between everyday use and gatherings.

Research shows communal areas increase time spent together, especially with inward facing seating. lower tables and warm lighting also make people stay longer and interact more.

Scale and materials define how the space feels. Large open rooms use furniture to create zones, while smaller spaces rely on objects like books and art to add density. From 1970s conversation pits to traditional floor seating, shared spaces have always been built to bring people closer.
