What a wonderful time we had at the Hewlett-Woodmere Public Library celebrating 40 years of The Klezmatics! And what a treat to see our show featured in the Nassau Herald ahead of the concert. There's still something special about holding a real newspaper in your hands! Thanks to everyone who came out and celebrated with us!

deeeeetroit!!! october 16!! the time has finally come for @aanicreates detroit debut ✨ AANI: “The NYC born-and-raised vocalist, multi-instrumentalist, composer and producer‘s soulful, original, independent Pop music draws on their background in the lineages of Klezmer and Balkan Brass. In addition to being the force behind AANI, Aaron “Aani” Kisslinger is the bandleader of Novi Hitovi Brass Band and Dancing Divas Brass Band, and a member of Queer/Trans Salsa band Las Mariquitas, Zlatne Uste Balkan Brass Band, Stoop Kidz Brass Band, EMEFE, and Git Azoy Klezmer Collective. You can also find them playing horns with Moses Sumney, Ric Wilson, Slavic Soul Party!, The Klezmatics, Brooklyn Nomads, High and Mighty Brass Band, and more.” @falooshh: “falooshh’ is an up and coming artist from Detroit. Her eclectic style of genre blending leaves the listener in the warmth of brassy tones while juxtaposed by serene vocal melodies. She is a multi-instrumentalist, primarily trombone and trumpet, and writes and records all of her songs. Her energy is infectious live and her band is radiating with talented musicians, often featuring a full horn section.” @thomasx_u “Thomas Xu is a Detroit-based electronic music DJ, producer, and the label head of @steadyflightcircle. He is recognized in the Detroit electronic music scene for creating contemplative, emotionally resonant sounds that cross the boundaries between deep house, jazz-infused ambient techno, and experimental electronic music.“ 🌘🌗🌖🌕🌔🌓🌒🌑 October 16 • 7pm • $10 📍 @moondogdetroit

felt like writing- “salsa is survival,” said @earthangelemmy a few hours ago at our [ear-ringingly beautiful] equinox show @maydayspace. a few feet away, an hour or so later, i did that thing that we as black people do, make light of a fucked up situation with a dark joke that really would just make you cry if you didn’t try and laugh through the tears. you know the kind im talking bout--for example, “i was locked up exactly this time last year!” it’s been hard to believe that it’s already been a year. i wish we didn’t have to count the months, years, decades our people have been harmed and taken by the state. by the hatred of white supremacy. i wish Nolan Wells was still alive. i wish…so many were still alive. i play for them. i live for them. salsa is indeed survival.

AANI constructs a sanctuary through sound. Vocalist, brass player, multi-instrumentalist, composer, producer, songwriter and storyteller Aaron "Aani" Kisslinger (they/them) is a born and raised New Yorker who believes the future lies in the past. Their ElectraBrassPop infuses original independent soulful Pop music with their upbringing in the lineages of Klezmer, cantorial music and Balkan Brass. Both pop diva and khazn (cantor), AANI sees music as a communal necessity, transcending borders to aid the fight for liberation and makes space for the full multitude of the human experience. AANI’s most recent album “Fresh Air | Neshome” is a shimmering celebration of collective liberation, life-breath, mysticism, queer love and human interconnectedness. 🎺 AANI will be headlining a night at Nublu 151 on September 19, performing a set of their original music, from meditations to Pop songs to Klezmer to Tallava, with a kickass band of all-star musicians: AANI on vocals and horns, Dom Gervaiz on drums, Jessica Lurie on sax, Jonah Bobo on keys and Mark Ligonde on bass. Opening set by Cole Kamen-Green. 🎟 Full program and tickets available via link in bio. 📷 @socalledentertainment

Memories and music from @falooshh’s first full band journey from Michigan to New York. The Falooshh X @producermondays show and @nubluclassic double feature w/ @el_tee_music was amazing. Walking and eating around NYC between the shows was unforgettable. This summer has been busy but the most fun. I am grateful to be among amazing people, pursuing a life in service to music.
