This year’s UK Black History Month theme is Honouring Our Communities ✨

To mark it, Somalis in Government (SIG) is collaborating with Muslims in Public Policy @mipp_uk to bring you a panel discussion: 🎙️ Honouring Our Communities: Why Does Visibility Matter in Leadership and Public Service?

Join voices from the civil service, think tanks and media as they share their career journeys and reflect on leadership, representation, and what it means to be a Black Muslim in public service. Whether you’re just starting out in policy or further along in your career, come along to hear the panel’s insights, ask your questions, and connect with others across the sector 🤝

With thanks to the @theadamfdn for hosting and @aaurbanrise for kindly providing refreshments.

🎟️ Free, but spaces are limited.

Some lovely photos from our Pitch Day, where we all left feeling inspired, uplifted and renewed!

There was something so special about being in a room filled with ideas, passion and people who genuinely believe they can make a difference.

This generation is going to change the world — one person, one idea, one day at a time 🌍

We can’t wait to return next year, following the official launch of our flagship programme, The Impactivist Programme.

This is only the beginning, 24/8 Impact is making our mark and we’re taking you all with us💚

What a night. 💛

Thank you to everyone who joined us to celebrate the launch of Aqoon.

It was so special to see people from different backgrounds, professions and stages of life come together with one shared purpose: to support, uplift and create opportunities for our community.

We hope you left feeling inspired, connected and excited for what’s ahead.

This is just the beginning, and we can’t wait to continue building this community together, insha’Allah. 💛

Wow… wow… wow… family. ❤️

We’re still buzzing from Friday for @refugeeweekuk .

What a room. What a community. What a night.

The idea behind An Evening with Inspyre was simple.

We wanted to explore how refugees and migrants are often spoken about in today’s world. But not through graphs. Not through PowerPoint presentations or statistics but through stories.

Stories from lived experience. From voices that matter most.

Because that’s what we’re about at Inspyre.

Whether it’s our Book Club, The Paper Trails Podcast, or Inspyre Nights, we believe storytelling is the most powerful way to bring people together. Friday was no different.

We also had the privilege of premiering our short film, The Three Addresses. Thank you for giving it such a warm reception. We promise… it’ll be out for everyone to watch very soon.

A massive thank you to our incredible speakers, @percy_tussamba, Urwa Mehmood, and @marenellermann , for sharing your stories, your wisdom, and your hearts with us.

A very special thank you to @ruqiaosm, who understood exactly what the evening needed. She didn’t just host the conversation. She created a space where people felt safe, listened to, and understood. That’s a rare gift, and we’re so grateful she shared it with our community.

Thank you to @counterpointsarts , Westminster Libraries, Church Street Library, and @aaurbanrise for believing in what we’re building and helping make the evening possible.

And of course the biggest shout out to @ozzied19 and @idman01_ the eyes and ears of Inspyre for the amazing work always!

And finally, to our amazing team and crew. Every chair moved, every light switched on, every guest welcomed at the door, every camera rolling, every little detail mattered. Thank you for pouring so much care into the evening.

We always say that stories bring people together.

On Friday, we watched it happen.

Until next time. 🤍

Over the next couple of days, we’ll be introducing the speakers joining us for Aqoon’s launch event.

Come for the panel.
Stay for the networking.
Leave with a connection, opportunity or piece of advice that could change your trajectory.

We had a fantastic evening launching our Together for Wellbeing 2026 programme 💫

We were thrilled to hear from the next 7 social enterprises who will be joining our 6-month mental health incubator, as well as hearing from our panelist’s on how we can build healthier cities through social innovation, and of course from one of our alumni, Mercedes from Quest Soul Theatre.

We will be sharing more about the cohort over the next few weeks - the work they are doing, their motivations and a few things in between.

Welcome to @milerainbow.cic @aaurbanrise @balancetogetherofficial @healthinthemargins @divergentthinkinguk Urban Trail Blazers & Waltham Adult Skills Centre 👏
