I know future planning feels weird when the world is on fire but hear me out. To keep history alive, we must collect. There is a strong punk scene in DC right now. There was in the last decade, and the decade before that. How do we know that? We document. The living memory is in our archive! Which can only be kept alive with donations from folks like you. We accept photographs, notebooks, banners, fliers, matchbooks, pins, tickets, zines, setlists, records, cassettes, tour trinkets, etc. So this is your permission to be a hoarder. Keep those scraps of paper you write your lyrics, notes, setlists. Keep your banners. Store them in a box and when you're ready to let them move onto their next life, contact us. Objects in the last two photos are from donor Amanda Kleinman (The Apes, Heavy Breathing).

Going back to basics with this vintage Gigwatch background for this week's weekly update! As with last week, there is just so much to be excited about in the DMV thanks to these 37 (!) gigs 🤘 The prevalence of daytime shows here is worth noting because if you have the energy, you can truly maximize your gigwatching potential. Go out for lunch on Friday and enjoy E.U. feat. @dareal_sugarbear at the Wilson Plaza, and you still have time in the evening to go see @altingunband at @howardtheatre or @ironlungrecords @braintourniquetdc and more at @transmissiondc! On Saturday, if you plan it just right, you could catch @backyardband at Marvin Gaye Park, run on over to the National Mall for @diynotshow and @dcw1mutualaid's presentation of @glitterererer, @posicionunida, and @somebodysdaughterdc, and then still make it to @flowersforthedead, @hotelsewingkit, and @colorpalettedc at @songbyrddc or @thomasdollbaum and @flopetite at @dc9club! Doesn't that rule? We here at Gigwatch DMV think so! What is your gig of choice among the 37? Who are you excited to go gigwatch this week?
