I’ve had the pleasure of shooting with @abbie_bentham on several occasions and this was from our last shoot which we squeezed in just before she jetted off to Australia. Abbie is another of the talented senior dancers who trained through @danceworks_official and @pnghsdance and has now moved to study dance full-time in Australia.

“Great things never came from comfort zones.” Neil Strauss ✨

We’re so proud of all the dancers for stepping up to this opportunity, trying something different, and getting up there to dance. By pushing yourself, you’ve grown that little bit more.

Everyone had an awesome time at our IGNITE Pop-Up Open Class with filming! 🎥 A huge thank you to the incredible @sophie___hunter for sharing her expertise and creative choreography, and to Joel of @mx.mvmt for showing us the magic of filming. Such a cool setup – we’re so grateful to have him in town!

We can’t wait to see what MX Dance Visuals captured, but in the meantime, check out this taster of what went on! The dance community is strong with attendance from 10 studios. We can’t wait to bring you many more amazing experiences to help you IGNITE your dance journey. 💃🕺

We were so grateful to have the gorgeous @emilylorenmcdermott step in and take the ‘Theatre Jazz’ inspired class at our Winter Ignite Dance Experience. 🙌
So much style, musicality, and feeling to all of her choreography. It was a lot of fun! 🎭

Emily is off to London very shortly to take her own dance journey to the next level and immerse herself in classes, auditions, and the UK industry. We look forward to watching Emily’s journey and welcoming her back again to Ignite in the future 💜

Thanks to the wonderful @globetheatrepn for your space 👏

👏 🙌 We are so EXCITED to announce 3 of our wonderful senior students have been accepted into Full-time Dance Study in Australia next year.

❤️ First up the lovely @abbie_bentham , who is 17 and has been accepted into the full time Pre-Professional Performing Arts program at @transitdance for 2025/2026.

“I started dancing when I was 3 and I decided that I wanted to be a professional at age 8, specifically a ballerina, however it wasn’t until age 10 that I decided to take dance seriously after being apart of the school production, where I found that I also had a strong passion for performing as well as dancing.

My dream dance job for the future is to perform on stage in West End London, particularly in Chicago, Mamma Mia!, or Cabaret”

Heading into full time dance training, I am most excited about the change of environment, where I can meet new people and explore new places. But I’m also excited about getting to dance all day everyday and all the new opportunities that it will give me.

My advice for younger dancers is to “follow your own path”, it’s easy to be influenced by others, but you don’t always need to do everything that your friends do, what’s right for them might not be right for you 🩷

I chose this course at Transit dance, because when I first started looking for full time schools last year, it was the first school that I came across outside of NZ, and after doing a lot of research and talking to those running Transit, I knew that the environment was the right place for me and that I would flourish there. I was originally going for their musical theatre course, but in the end I decided to audition for the performing arts course, because I simply just want to dance. I’m most excited about getting to perform in multiple shows throughout my time in the program, which are apart of the course.”

We are very proud of all your hard work Abbie and your determination to make your dreams come true ✨
