If not now, then when?

Iโ€™ve spent a lot of my life chasing the next thing.

The next idea. The next version of the business. The next challenge that forces me to learn something new and become someone new in the process.

For a long time, I thought the goal was to eventually reach a point where everything felt figured out. Where I had more certainty, more time, and a perfectly clear path forward.

Then I became a dad.

Nothing makes time feel more real than watching your baby change in front of you. Itโ€™s made me realize there probably isnโ€™t a perfect season coming. Life doesnโ€™t wait until the business is โ€˜stableโ€™, the idea is fully formed, or you finally feel ready.

Most of the best things in my life started before I was ready anyway.

They came from following my curiosity. Choosing discomfort. Telling stories. Building things. Reinventing myself whenever the old version stopped feeling true.

Fatherhood has made me more intentional about what my ambition is for.

I want Lenny to grow up seeing that you can bet on yourself, change direction, build something meaningful, and keep becoming a new version of yourself. But I also want her to see that success means being present enough to enjoy the ordinary moments while theyโ€™re here.

So start the thing. Make the change. Share the idea. Take the risk. Go for the run. JUST ENJOY THE MOMENT.

If not now.. then when?

There was a time when babies did not belong to mothers alone.

They belonged to the village.

If a baby cried, any woman nearby might gather them into her arms.
If a mother was exhausted, another breast was offered.
If a mother was sick, another woman fed the child without hesitation.

Milk was not guarded.
It flowed where it was needed.

A hungry baby was everyoneโ€™s responsibility.

Women knew something we have slowly forgotten:

Human babies were never meant to survive on one mother alone.

They survived through circles of women.
Through shared arms.
Shared wisdom.
Shared milk.

Aunts.
Sisters.
Friends.
Grandmothers.

An entire web of mothers surrounding a child.

For most of human history, motherhood was not solitary.

It was communal.
Protective.
Interwoven.

One woman rested while another rocked the baby.
One woman labored while another fed the toddler.
One woman healed while another breastfed the newborn.

The village held the mother.
And the mothers held the babies.

And that is how our species survived.

Because long before parenting books and baby monitors and isolated nuclear homesโ€ฆ

there were women.

And women took care of each otherโ€™s babies.

Iโ€™ve been building a business since I was 20. Because Iโ€™ve always believed there should be no limit to whatโ€™s possible in life.

I dreaded the idea of working to build someone elseโ€™s dream while they told me what to do, and when/where I had to do it.

The last decade has been filled with lessons that Iโ€™ll continue to grow from forever. But since becoming a father itโ€™s completely changed my perspective on time, and this road trip from Kelowna to California has emphasized that perspective.

Time is a gift. Not a guarantee. Iโ€™m going to try to live accordingly
