This summer, Abby Hamm was the Assistant Stage Manager and Prop
Designer for Hairspray with WordPlayers Theatre Company, located in
Knoxville TN.

"Hairspray is a period piece that discusses very real issues regarding racism within the 1960s. When designing and stage managing for this show, I was motivated by the message of how important it is for everyone's voice to be heard. Whether it was a purse, or protest signs, I researched accuracy to help actors discover their characters through the props they used"

Fashion Designer by day and a Musical Performer by night 🤩

After the mess that was finals week of my junior year, I am so glad my summer is filled with so much joy and excitement!

Thank you to Lucy Wright and the Wordplayers for giving me the opportunity to perform in the show that started my love of musical theater!

Thank you to my dynamites, seaweeds crew, and the cast/crew of hairspray who allowed me to make so many memories and friendships I will never forget. I love you all so much and am so eternally grateful for everything.

And finally thank you to all of my friends and family near and far who have supported me throughout this whole process, I couldn’t have done this without you 🩷
