Last week a fundraising workshop took place where all the proceeds were donated to those impacted at the Lapu-Lapu day festival in Vancouver this past April. In bringing together the community, we let the victims and their families know they are not alone. As a filipina born in Vancouver who grew up in this neighborhood, this cause and event meant a lot to me. I am so blessed to have a space & a support system who helped make this happen: - @runtheflex for the space & community - @_ma.o & @abcaaitlynd for teaching the beg/int class - @sammydugs & @emmablack___ for managing the front desk - @_minjubean for creating the captions for the posts - @y2.15 for making an amazing promo post - @addi_sanjuan for capturing the memories in videos and photos - @ssebastianfess @nicolerosove for all the planning behind the scenes & guiding me through this process ….and ofc, to all those who shared the post, donated and/or came thru to take class: THE VIBES, THE WILLINGNESS, AND THE LOVE WAS UNMATCHED. After class, I had the opportunity to chat with some individuals who shared what this event meant them and I am so glad that this event touched individuals in differing yet all positive ways. Because of all your generous support, we were able to collectively raise over $1500 (over $500 more than our goal!!) which will be donated to United BC’s Kapwa Strong Fund.
