There’s this pregnant woman at the market I frequent. Honestly, seeing her during her pregnancy, you would know that Pregnancy really humbled her😅

I patronize her whenever I need to use POS, and anytime she sees me in the market, she would bring her POS machine over, just so I can patronize her. ❤️

I saw her today for the first time after her 41 days at home, and Omoooo! 🥰❤️

She has given birth, and she was glowing! So beautiful, so fresh… honestly, more beautiful than when she was carrying the pregnancy. 🥹

As Yorùbás say, “Oyun, atúnìdà.” Pregnancy really transforms a woman. It was like I was looking at a completely different person! 😂❤️

I was genuinely so happy for her. May Allah bless her motherhood and grant her and her baby good health.

And to every expectant mother out there, may Allah grant you safe and smooth deliveries. 🤲🏽

To every TTC mum, may Allah answer your prayers, bless you with your own beautiful testimony, and grant you pious, healthy children. Ameen. 🤲🏽❤️

Rodiat Recall Episode 3

There was a woman we all knew as Mummy Ronke.

She sold right outside my primary school. Her rented house shared a fence with the school, and the space by the gate was her little shop. It wasn't just a shop—it was the place for biscuits, sweets, juice, pencils, biros, notebooks, cellotape, chewing gum... everything a child could suddenly remember they needed just before assembly.

Every morning, cars lined up in front of her shed.

What fascinated me wasn't the crowd. It was her.

The moment a car pulled up, Mummy Ronke looked at the children inside. Before they even spoke, she was already reaching for their favorite biscuits or drink. She knew exactly what each child wanted. It was almost unbelievable how accurate she was.

In seconds, she would hand over the snacks, calculate the total, collect the money, return the correct change, and the car would drive straight into the school.

Then the next car.

And the next.

The queue was always long, yet she never seemed flustered.

If she owed you change because she didn't have the exact amount at that moment, you didn't need to remind her the next day. She remembered. She remembered faces, purchases, and even tiny balances.

Looking back now, I realize I wasn't just watching a woman selling snacks.

I was watching customer service, speed, trust, and experience at work.

It's funny how memories like this stay with us.

I don't even know why I remember this particular scene after all these years.

But somehow... I do.

RODIAT RECALL (Episode 2)

If you attended a boarding school where low-cut hair was compulsory, this gist is for you. 😂

I attended a secondary school where every girl had to keep a low cut. In my final year (SSS 3), it became compulsory for all of us to stay in the school hostel so we could be closely monitored ahead of WAEC and JAMB.

Each hostel had an assigned barber—one for the boys and one for the girls.

The funny part? Whenever it was haircut day, the girls with thick, full hair would suddenly become hair stylists. 🤣 We'd press our hair down with our palms, flattening every strand so it wouldn't look full. The goal was simple: "Barber, abeg no notice me today."

Those with scanty hair had absolutely nothing to worry about. But those of us blessed with plenty of hair? Ah! We were the barber's favorite customers. There was no hiding.

Some girls even escaped the clipper completely. But that came with another problem—they had to keep hiding from the hostel mistress and the principal. If they were eventually caught, the punishment was brutal. Their hair would be shaved right down to the skin! 😭

Of course, I also tried my luck. After all, as the Yorubas say, "Ìrùn ni ẹwà obìnrin." Hair is a woman's beauty.

Sadly, luck was hardly ever on my side. My thick hair always exposed me, and I was almost always on the barber's list. 💔

One thing every girl in that hostel had in her cupboard was hair booster. 😂 The moment the haircut was over, we'd rush to have our bath, apply a generous amount of hair cream or hair booster, and pray for a miracle.

Our biggest prayer?

"God, let this hair grow overnight before school tomorrow... at least let us look presentable in front of our crushes." 😂😂

The boys also faced the same ordeal, but at least we girls had our berets to hide under. They had nowhere to run. 🤣

Looking back now, those moments were frustrating then, but they're some of the funniest memories I have from secondary school.

Did you attend a boarding school? Was low-cut hair compulsory in your school, too?

Come and gist us. I want to know your funniest boarding school experience. 😂👇
