i came back to pgs hoping to give back to the community that gave me so much as a delegate. last year, i left pgs with a renewed sense of purpose that i didn’t even know i needed, and i wanted to help foster that environment for the next group of delegates; to help create that girls state magic of seeing yourself on the belk screen, giggling at parody videos, and singing your heart out during assemblies.

in working towards this purpose, this “why” for returning, pgs, as usual, blessed me with something i didn’t know i needed. pgs gave me the greatest videography team i could’ve ever asked for to work towards my why. pgs gave me more everlasting memories with my favorite human beings, and taught me that i have a community that will be strong for me when i cannot bear to be strong for myself. pgs brought me a sense of belonging that i will never forget, and always carry with me into my future endeavors.

i genuinely thought nothing could top my delegate year. i was so wrong. being brought into the absolute radiance that is the prodsquad family, being able to spend more time with my fave @canit_janet , getting to watch my delegate friends flourish, and developing a new relationship with my work and my creative expression, all these things have made this pgs session the most unforgettable experience of my life.

to my girls state family, thank you for being there. thank you for building me back up. thank you for your endless love, acceptance, and support. once again, pgs is love. pgs is home. and pgs is, quite literally, the best state in the land.

I could not have asked for a more meaningful and fulfilling week than this. While my love grows every year for this program, there is no greater joy than getting to watch someone grow into themselves, and realize the future of what they hope to become. I couldn’t have asked for a better group of young women, or better staff and leadership. My seventh year on staff and fourth year leading the video production team here at @ala_pgs and my heart is overwhelmed once again.

Once a week every year, we get to experience what lots of people describe as a “reset,” or a moment to feel like yourself again before returning back into the “real world” - aka July - May. I always find myself with my cup refilled after putting in hours of work to build a community and a sense of belonging and gratitude with the delegates - aka campers - through our video productions, and I feel like we really did just that this year.

A few of the productions we created that I’d love to highlight are the following:

- we brought the most incredible vision to life with @abijah_leamon. She dreamed up an immersive, multimedia experience for the delegates to hear the results of elections, and it came to fruition through the shooting and editing my team and I did, the incredible stage production by @grace_hickman’s team, and the cooperation of many many performers, aka the education and logistics team. I’ll forever remember the moment the East High Wildcats burst through the doors of Belk. 🏀

- The now annual tradition of a song parody came to life this year by much work and effort from @abbielinnerud. I never thought I could add amateur music production to my resume, but here we are! Thank you, Abbie for being such an easy subject to shoot and for bringing to life one of my favorite projects we’ve ever created.

- Finally, I have to brag on this video team of mine. @kate_thegreat007 - your GROWTH! Just in four years. I truly cannot do this job without you and I am so proud of your authenticity and commitment to our amazing video team. Eden, Lauren, and newbie Veronica - wow, did y’all make my life easy this week! I mean just look at the beautiful clips from our EOW recap! I am so grateful for every moment with each of you. Thank you for putting your best foot forward in every video you took and created. It doesn’t go unnoticed.

I could truly do this forever! Thank you, @ala_pgs for trusting our amazing production team with the honor of showcasing this life-changing program. I am forever honored. See you in 365. 💚⭐️⏳
