🎪Skill-flation and Instagram 🎪

Whether it’s dance, circus, sport… skill flation is a massive issue, leading us to believe progress is linear, that skills are acquired in a manualised way. Normalising pushing the bar higher and higher until what was once advanced and challenging is old news.

Levelling up should be a slow and considered process which factors in pre-hab, conditioning, and ensuring the body is ready for the next stage. Finding the brain-body connection to do this is HARD, especially when you have Instagram telling you that you should be a certain way.

⭐️embrace the apparatus like you are new to it all again. Remember how exciting it was when you first started? That.

⭐️get a coach who knows how to support your client base (kids are not little adults)

⭐️training is a marathon and not a sprint. Does it really matter if you can’t do x,y,z by a certain date

⭐️CROSS TRAIN! Ballet, yoga, Pilates, circus, conditioning and weights - you lack strength not stamina.

⭐️fuel your body. You want it to do the hard stuff? Make sure you are eating, drinking and resting!

You aren’t bad and de conditioned…you are levelling up and it is normal to feel this way.
