WHEN FLOWERS BECOME WITNESSES
Floral Art × Sculpture × The Language of Flowers

On 1 October, I had the honour of creating the floral atmosphere for United for Freedom Charity Gala at the magnificent Imperial War Museum London.

For me, flowers have never been just about beauty. They are a language that expresses what words sometimes cannot.
I wanted the arrangements to be minimalist, sculptural and brutalist — in harmony with the museum’s atmosphere and the profound theme of the evening. Not conventional festive centrepieces, but artistic statements with meaning.

The perfect artistic connection came through INCOGNITO, sculptural chain-shaped candleholders by Ukrainian artist Andrii Matviichuk @andrew_matviychuk_objects
Their forms symbolised the historical ties between Britain and Ukraine, echoing the shared history highlighted in Prince Harry’s opening speech.

Together, sculpture and floral art spoke of strength, solidarity, pain and hope.

Every botanical element carried meaning:
Thorns — the wounds of war.
White tulips — fragile life and hope.
Mature sunflowers — Ukraine and the promise of new life.
Dried corn leaves — Ukrainian fields that have witnessed the war.

The evening brought together 150 guests and raised over £80,000 for humanitarian and rehabilitation initiatives.

Prince Harry, The Duke of Sussex, opened the gala with powerful words:
“But tonight, history is not only something we remember. It is being written, right now, in Ukraine.”

The unforgettable live performance by Sviatoslav Vakarchuk made the evening even more emotional.

My heartfelt thanks to Ptashky Peremohy @ptashky.peremohy , London Business Club @london.business.club and Stargazing Events @stargazing.events for this remarkable event supporting Superhumans Center @superhumans.center and Ukraine Charity @ukrainecharityorg
Sometimes flowers have more to say than words.
And this story continued beyond the tables.

For the welcome reception, I created WITNESSES OF WAR — a sculptural installation made from the personal belongings of a Ukrainian soldier still defending his country.
A deeply personal story I’ll share in my next post.
