TWDIS: MORNING AFTER THE WEDDING EDITION

It’s 8:59am the morning after a mind-blowingly gorgeous wedding in Vienna. I’m awake, drinking coffee, snuggling with my still sleepy daughter, and planning my workout for the day. The only physical signs I feel of having gone to a blowout celebration are tired feet from dancing in heels, and a bit of a scratch in my throat from cheering on the new couple and going nuts dancing with my family each time the beat dropped. 💃 🕺 🪩

I haven’t been to a wedding in a few years, and last night I attended the first one I’ve been to as a sober woman.

I’m so much more present in these moments. I can absorb the joy of watching my daughter dress in a gown and feel like a princess. I feel deeply the unspoken yet powerful support of my husband’s hand in mine. I am mentally and emotionally clear to celebrate my friend’s huge day and remember it. In planning the trip, I was able to look at my fear of the financial expense it would entail to travel to Austria and walk through it to enjoy this once in a lifetime experience.

I am reminded, especially as Callia’s mama, that each moment is precious and unique. I am so thankful for the gift of showing up for her and for every detail of my life.

Daily Gratitude Challenge

Tell your significant other one thing you’re grateful for about them - every day.

Not because you want something.
Not because it’s poetic or perfect.
But because gratitude is the antidote to resentment.

Resentment kills connection.
Gratitude builds it.
And it’s really hard to feel both at the same time.

So say it with intention.
With presence.
With no ulterior motive - just truth and love.

This practice is straight from the Above Average Dad Blueprint - coming soon.
Because how you show up at home matters.

Commit to doing it for two weeks.
Watch what shifts.
Tag me when you start.
Message me when things feel different.

Let’s raise the standard together.

Somewhere, in some home, the air shifted and Dad snapped.

A spill.
Bedtime dragging.
A kid pushed a boundary.

A miscommunication between partners.
An accidental tone.
A mistaken request.

And without hesitation – a reaction.
Anger.
Explosion.

Now the house feels unsafe.
Fear. Shame. Disconnection.

It doesn’t have to be this way.
Breathe.
Regulate.
Choose how you show up.

You may not have been taught how to do this.
You can learn.
You can own it.
For your family. For yourself.

There are levels to this.
Pt. 2 coming soon …

If this hits, you’re not the only one.
Share this with the men who are doing the work too.

You can lift, run, hustle, and win …
and still avoid the real work.

Working out.
Knocking out tasks.
Reading self-help.
Amazing, connected sex …
It can all feel good.
It can all help.

But none of it heals the place you might’ve built your life from,
the pain you’ve mistaken for strength.

The real work is slow.
It’s uncomfortable.
It’s letting someone walk with you
while you untangle what’s been knotted
since you were a boy.

I know because I lived it for years.
I thought I was doing the work.
I was running.

When you stop running,
when you do the real work,
everything changes.

Your relationships.
Your health.
Your peace.
Your overall trajectory.

This is where the man you were meant to be
finally steps forward. ⚔️

(But keep logging those miles)

Your daily reminder.

No matter how uncomfortable, we will not let ourselves off the hook by taking the easy way out.

We have cultivated more than enough strength, power, and resilience to endure the discomfort.

Stay the course.
Keep stacking wins.

Make no mistake: you can substitute ‘the gym’ for just about anything growth and evolution related. Finish the week strong

30+ individuals.
One hour at a time.
Multiple days a week.

They show up
to push,
to grow,
to meet discomfort head-on.

It’s more than exercise.
It’s transformation.

And it’s one of the greatest privileges of my life
to empower them
and to hold space for their journey.
