@junglecae is back, breaking down some recent research into terpenes and mood states 👀

First stop, our collaboration with Western Washington University (@westernwashingtonuniversity) on how cnnbis terpenes may influence emotional response in an animal model. Then Mood Mods, our consumer sensory study with Curion Insights, where we dosed data-driven terpenes into a beverage and tracked mood impressions at multiple points throughout.

The science is still early, but the results are worth paying attention to.

Can terpenes do more than just taste great? 🤯

In our newest White Paper, Abstrax researchers partnered with sensory scientists to test how formulated terpene blends can influence mood in commercial beverages. In a blinded consumer study, Mood Mods produced distinct emotional responses in participants without any stimulants or intoxicants.

The functional beverage category is evolving faster than ever, and so are the ingredients behind it.

Consumers are looking for more than just “energy” or “calm.” They want experiences that make them stop and take notice. But traditional options come with tradeoffs like the peaks and crashes of caffeine and the long wait time behind some adaptogens.

New research is pointing to a different approach 👀 AI-formulated terpene blends designed to allow for distinct mood impressions without traditional stimulants or intoxicants.

A more precise, perceptible way to think about functional beverages. We break down what this means for formulation, product development, and where the category is heading next in our newest blog.

The latest white paper from Abstrax Tech brought our attention to the importance of low concentration metabolites. Even though seasoned cultivators have known about them for a long time, the industry is taking notice and contemplating ways to preserve and manipulate them as the next leap in breeding, cultivation, extraction, and product development.

I interviewed Kevin Jodrey, Alec Dixon, Joe Edwards, Avery Gilbert, T.J. Martin, and Marshall Ligare to dig into the next frontier of product development and wrote about it for mg Magazine:

North Park Brewing Grower's series beer line. Farm growers hop choice in these beers. #absractexpression #tdhhazyipa 8.5% ABV #collaborationbeer @royfarms_hops @roy.farms @abstraxhops @abstraxflavors @northparkbeerco @thebottleshoppe I love this idea from Northpark to let the farmers and growers advocate for a particular Hop they are excited about and proud of. This was a very well balanced Citric and Dank all at once! A great tasting IPA, and I'm sure every "HAZYBRO" will absolutely agree 👍🏻 Great Job to the Brewers at North Park for this one!!! 🍻.
