Dear softball,

I’m not usually one for long captions, but there are so many things I could say about the time I had with this sport. I dedicated 18 years of my life to this game that takes and takes, but also gives so so much. So much that despite the years of it almost completely breaking me down, I still couldn’t help but come back to it. The friendships and memories I’ve made over the years and throughout different programs will forever stick with me as the most important thing I’ve gained from softball. The failure, injuries, and pain will never overshadow those for me. The personal growth I was forced to face melded me into the woman I am today, and I am forever grateful for it, as well as the unique opportunity I was given to inspire that growth in other young women. Thank you to my parents, coaches, friends, teammates, loved ones, and mentors I’ve had over the years that stayed supporting me in my toughest moments. I sincerely could not have continued this far without your encouragement. This was both the hardest and the best experience of my life and it has fundamentally changed me forever.
