Mies at Toronto Dominion Center “Both stable and unstable, autonomous and contingent is still in many ways unknown and the monolithic edifice refracts the light of interpretation, multiplying its potential implications for contemporary architectural practice.” Detlef Mertins

WHEN EVERYTHING IS REMOVED, WHAT REMAINS? For Alberto Campo Baeza, juror of Architecture Competition Kaira Looro 2027, architecture can begin with the essential. Light. Space. Matter. Gravity. Silence. His work is known for a rigorous architectural language in which geometry and proportion create spaces of extraordinary clarity. From the House of the Infinite in Cádiz to the Andalusia’s Museum of Memory in Granada and a long series of houses, educational and cultural buildings, Campo Baeza has pursued an architecture in which simplicity is not an absence of ideas. It is the result of having found what matters. His work demonstrates how light can become architecture, how a wall can frame a landscape, and how a precise proportion can transform an ordinary space into an experience. For a young architect, his work offers a powerful lesson: You do not always need more. Sometimes you need less, but better understood. We are proud to welcome Alberto Campo Baeza to the Kaira Looro 2027 International Jury. Swipe through his projects. Look at the spaces between things. That is where architecture begins. #KairaLooro #KairaLooro2027 #AlbertoCampoBaeza #CampoBaeza #Architecture #MinimalArchitecture #ArchitecturalDesign #ArchitectureCompetition #ArchitectureJury #LightInArchitecture #YoungArchitects #ArchitectureStudents

For Kaira Looro 2027, the jury brings together internationally acclaimed architects, Pritzker Prize laureates, award-winning designers and visionary voices whose work has shaped contemporary architecture across generations and continents. We are incredibly proud to introduce the jury of the next edition, some of the most visionary architects of our time: Kengo Kuma, Benedetta Tagliabue, Sir David Adjaye, Alberto Campo Baeza, Smiljan Radić Clarke, Mario Cucinella, Agostino Ghirardelli, Moshe Safdie, Raul Pantaleo, Elora Hardy, Emmanuelle Moureaux, Saad El Kabbaj, Driss Kettani and Mohamed Amine Siana. 14 architects. 14 perspectives. One international jury. Different cultures. Different experiences. Different ways of imagining architecture. But one shared responsibility, to recognize ideas capable of making a difference. The projects submitted to the Kaira Looro 2027 edition will be seen by architects whose work has inspired generations, transformed cities, challenged conventions and expanded the possibilities of architecture. This is more than a competition jury. It is a room where the next generation meets the world of architecture. Kaira Looro 2027. A BOX OF LIGHT IN MADRID 🇪🇸 The new Library of the French Lycée in Madrid by Estudio Arquitectura Campo Baeza is defined by light, proportion and radical simplicity. A solid exposed-concrete volume on the outside becomes an almost weightless white interior, where a fully glazed north façade, glass corners and a glazed roof create a true boîte à lumière. At its heart, the double-height reading room is flooded with natural light, while long horizontal openings frame views of the surrounding trees. 𝐀 𝐍𝐄𝐖 𝐄𝐗𝐓𝐑𝐀𝐎𝐃𝐈𝐍𝐀𝐑𝐘 𝐕𝐎𝐈𝐂𝐄 𝐉𝐎𝐈𝐍𝐒 𝐎𝐔𝐑 𝐉𝐔𝐑𝐘 We are truly honored to announce that 𝐀𝐥𝐛𝐞𝐫𝐭𝐨 𝐂𝐚𝐦𝐩𝐨 𝐁𝐚𝐞𝐳𝐚 will join the International 𝐉𝐮𝐫𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐊𝐚𝐢𝐫𝐚 𝐋𝐨𝐨𝐫𝐨 𝐀𝐫𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 2027. One of the most influential Spanish architects of his generation, Campo Baeza is internationally recognized for an architecture of extraordinary clarity, where light, space, proportion, material, and silence become the essential elements of the project. From the Tadao Ando Museum in the Dominican Republic to the Caja Granada Savings Bank and the Casa del Infinito in Cádiz, his work has become a reference for generations of architects around the world. His architecture is powerful precisely because it is able to say more with less. Having Campo Baeza among the jurors of Kaira Looro 2027 is an exceptional honor for us. But it is also deeply meaningful for what Kaira Looro represents: bringing together some of the most distinguished voices in contemporary architecture and giving young architects the opportunity to place their ideas before an international jury of extraordinary experience and vision. For the 2027 edition, we could not be more excited to welcome his perspective. A new voice. A new way of looking at architecture. Another extraordinary mind joining the Kaira Looro journey. Welcome, Alberto Campo Baeza! The 2027 jury is taking shape. And it is already something extraordinary. #Arquitectura #CampoBaeza #ArteYArquitectura #ArquitecturaContemporanea #EstudiantesDeArquitectura

Between Cathedrals / Alberto Campo Baeza "The basic premise is to cover and protect an archeological excavation. " "Constructed as if it were a ship, it is painted completely white to accentuate its lightness. The paved area is carpeted in white marble." "In the construction of the base; the memory of ships. In that of the shade structure, as if it were a baldachin; the memory of a holy week procession."
