VM Scene + Heard: Last Thursday, guests gathered at @indochinenyc in New York City to celebrate eyewear designer Selima Salaun’s induction into the @accessoriescouncil Hall of Fame. The intimate event brough together fashion leaders, designers, artists and friends, including Alain Mikli, Salaun’s longtime mentor; accessories designer Rafe Totengco; fashion icon Linda Rodin, who delivered special remarks and previously collaborated with Salaun on an eyewear collection; Fern Mallis; Lisa Smilor; and Jean-Marc Houmard, owner of Indochine, among others.
Alongside a cocktail reception, guests experienced Salaun’s love for art with @pedrosilver, creator of the illustration featured on the event invitation, and @hkregharrison who designed a one-of-a-kind sculpture created from sunglasses in honor of Selima.
“Selima has helped shape the way we see eyewear—as an expression of personality, creativity, and individual style,” said Karen Giberson, president and CEO of the Accessories Council, pictured here with Salaun. “Her iconic designs, innovative retail approach, and inspiring collaborations are matched by her generosity as a mentor, colleague, and friend. Our Hall of Fame Award recognizes both her remarkable contributions to the industry and the spirit with which she makes them.”
Half of the evening’s net proceeds will benefit @tamerlainesanctuary , an organization close to Salaun’s heart.
LOOK OPTIC, EssilorLuxottica, and Kavanagh Consulting were event sponsors.
