Neotribal freehand blackwork sleeve, completed in 3 sessions for @p4n.th4

Thank you Jess for the trust and commitment ⚔️
You wear this piece so well and we’re super excited to see where you go as an artist.

This tattoo appears as blackwork from a metre away, but up close you can see it’s made up of thousands of individually placed dots. To render a consistent gradient takes a long time, but the effect is a worth while variation if you’re looking for something different to jet-black fill.

We have a few spaces left for December - last spots for 2026 ⤵️

Flow, form & movement 🌀

This arm sleeve tattoo came together over 2–3 sessions, mixing layered shapes and flowing lines following the natural contours of the arm. Big thank you to our client for this creative abstract project 🙏🏼

Back in the studio! 🍃

Very blessed to be in the forest again and back into the tattooing space. We’re lost for words with how beautiful Sri Lanka is, and it’s given us so much artistic inspiration. More to come on this soon 📿

Thank you all for your patience with response times! Everyone has now been replied to 🫡

Double shin tattoo for the lovely Kirsty⚜️

Symmetrical blackwork tattoo, crafted in elegant Art Nouveau style. Over three sessions, we worked with Kirsty to bring this design to life. The first session focused on placement and outlining, and the following filled in the rich black details. This piece was designed by Maddie and tattooed by Ace, and was a really awesome collaboration between the three of us.

Much love for sitting for these! 🫶🏻 If you’re interested in seeing what we can do for your next tattoo:

3 day/15 hour sit for @djsbs3000 ⚫️ (scroll down the page to see the original reel we posted for this).

Cameron flew over and stayed with us to complete this cyber-fluid leg tattoo that I started while guesting with Kamar-Taj a few years ago. This began as a cover-up project and I’m really grateful for Cameron’s dedication to finishing this piece.

The 3 days allowed for us to tattoo slowly, take breaks and work at a chilled pace that suited us both (when tattooing behind the kneecap this is important as to not overwork the skin). Overall the piece took around 15 hours to complete :)

Thank you Cameron for the huge efforts in coming over here and staying with us. You sat so well and we loved going out for dinner, exploring Piha and the lengthy chats ☺️

Hey everyone! 🌿

The studio socials have been a little quiet over the last few weeks. We’ve been working through and recovering from some minor surgery, had a full-on few weeks of kids, birthdays and all the magic that comes with family life and being part of a village . . . and somehow it all blurred into us going a little MIA 😂

We’re still here though!

Trying to maintain an active social media life when you’re naturally hermits has its challenges, but we’ve also been very lucky to have some big projects kicking off behind the scenes. As these things tend to do, they require a lot of planning, patience and a whole lot of work before there’s anything exciting to show you.

So while the socials might have been quiet, the studio definitely hasn’t been. We’re still working away with our incredible clients and doing what we love.

A huge thank you to everyone who has reached out with new projects, ideas and enquiries, and for continuing to trust Exium with your visions. We’ve got some beautiful things happening behind the scenes and we can’t wait to share them with you.

New things coming sooooon. Pinky promise. 🤞
From us and Lucky, stay warm and well

W.I.P - second session completed on this surrealism, art nouveau style leg tattoo for @amber_faith_27 🗡️

More to come on this project . . . So happy with how it’s evolving and taking shape. We took the initial reference photo in the studio last year with Amber, which gave us a totally unique form and flow.

Would love to do more projects with this kind of prep work!

Completed in Auckland at @exiumstudio.

Bravery points for this spicy addition 🫶🏻

This palm tattoo was a continuation of another abstract flow piece from Ace. Thank you Essie for the continued trust and always being so awesome to have in the studio. You sat like a warrior 🐉

The first photo is freshly done and the second about a week later.

Little forest spirit for the lovely Essie ✨

Thank you for the creative freedom and letting me choose this piece. Was asked to tattoo something “whimsical” and I think this delivers. I’m not sure who the artist is, but there’s a few of these little cute creatures floating around on Pinterest as soft toys, and it was really nice energy to tattoo.

Will be happy to give clients a discount if you’re after this sort of surrealism, fantasy style work. I’m really enjoying tattooing these sorts of textures and expressions and I’ve got heaps of inspiration for future pieces.

To celebrate Ace’s birthday this year, and to honour two decades of tattooing, the people who know and love him came together to commission this portrait by friend and longtime artistic inspiration, @mish_tattoo

A person is more than the roles they’re remembered for. Before Ace was a father, a partner, or a tattooist, there was the spirit that shaped the man he would become. This piece honours that.

Thank you Mish, for seeing deeply and capturing him so well. It’s a gift we’ll always treasure 🙏🏼

Sick new ear tattoo for Matt! Thank you bro for choosing one the of the ear flash designs and enduring coils in your eardrums. We have heaps of designs left for this area, see our Insta for more options.

More of these please 🙏🏼 Really enjoy tattooing these face mods and take them really seriously. Creating the balance between something that grabs your attention as a statement piece but also has a quality of flow, is an area I love pursuing as a tattoo artist.
