Now we flashback to the July 2025 residency. Travel with me to an alternate universe where we no longer name the days for Norse Gods but for their relation to the Day Off and Graduation. Residency time is the best time. Don’t miss the bear cameo.

Meet @aceisjoy, one of our fiction grads and outgoing social media intern, whose time in the program led to personal development on and off the page.

Missing Kat from the picture. But talking about a book that has meant so much to me - ASSEMBLY by Natasha Brown in @warrenwilsonmfa Bookshop for two days has been a joy. My students/writers are so so smart and insightful and just help me talk/think through what a novel can do. I love this book so much. And spending two days annotating and talking about it has helped me articulate so many things about my own novel. But what a joy to be around these writers. Joy has been a big part of residency for me.

PART 1 // I’m still processing the generative, inquisitive, intense, and transformative time I had at @warrenwilsonmfa, including all the genius creative minds I was so privileged to be able to witness in action, the piggery-reaching karaoke, the world class DEIB, creative, and critical work I was so honoured to be part of, the not one, but two black bears I witnessed lumbering through campus, and the lifelong friendships I have made, but in the meantime, here are some photos of my last residency ❤️

1. So proud of the Inclusion Interns + intern adjacent for centring 🍉 through bracing and brilliant critical analysis with @mommainthefog @terivela @krsacco @rowboat_sharp and Grace Spulak ❤️🤍🖤💚 2. As I’m in the thick of my recovery I messed around and made a collage of many of the people who made me feel loved over the last year plus: my students, close friends, family, and comrades in the work. I really like how it looks on my monitor and want to show people!

(Not exactly all PG13 pics but I’m grown and very human and can’t be “on” all the time so whatever🤎.)
