Athletic Club Grand Rapids has named Erik Bushey as the first head coach in club history, introducing him at a news conference at the David D. Hunting YMCA in Grand Rapids.

Bushey comes to West Michigan from the Colorado Rapids, the Major League Soccer team based in the Denver area, where he has coached the club’s second team since 2022. That team competes in MLS NEXT Pro, a professional league focused on developing young players for the next level of the game.

Enzo Lathouwers is doing more than winning the ball back. 👀 The AC Grand Rapids midfielder combines defensive instincts with technical quality and an attacking edge, offering something extra from the No. 6 position.

Ranked No. 19 in the Great Lakes for the class of 2029 by TopDrawerSoccer, Lathouwers has earned trial invitations from Chicago Fire, Columbus Crew and Nashville SC, alongside inclusion in a U.S. Youth National Team ID Center in October 2024. 🇺🇸

He also guest played for Nashville at the 2026 Generation adidas Cup, featuring against FC Cincinnati, D.C. United and New York Red Bulls in both the No. 6 and No. 10 roles. With experience defending and creating from midfield, could he be one of the region’s next standout No. 6s?
