Happy Friday! Last Weekend to get out and complete the Coastwatch Survey!

Some amazing views sent in by our citizen scientists while they were surveying the shore, can't wait to see some more. Don't forget to photograph biodiversity, nitrate tests and marine litter art as well.

Book your survey units here:https://www.coastwatch.org/all-ireland-survey-autumn-2026

The Coastwatch Survey has been extended to October 20. Thank you to those who have booked and surveyed and for the fantastic photos! A pattern appears to be emerging on inflow quality, litter and seagrass - generally positive! However we are also getting far less mussels and crabs than normal, can you please look out for these and photograph any young mussel blankets.

Keep the highlights and special problems as well as litter faces (in extra questions) coming!

We are coming into spring tides now - this weekend and Monday are the best tides for reaching the most interesting low shores. Book your survey unit here: https://www.coastwatch.org/all-ireland-survey-autumn-2026

Use the new 🟢 "LOG IN" 🟢 feature which enables you to save survey form drafts and access your inputed data. You can also use submitted survey forms as a template for new survey forms for long dune systems and other uniform areas. Glitches in the new feature have been resolved.

Some of our favourite survey finds from 2025!

One week into the survey season (Sept 15-Oct 15) and we are seeing lots of survey units being booked all around the country! We cannot wait to see what you find this year!

Never surveyed before? No worries! We have planned training events all around the country where all are welcome! Surveying is a great way to connect to your shore, learn something new and gather valuable data used to protect our planet.

Our next training event will be Sept 23, 10am at Grattan Beach, Galway City. Join us on the shore and afterwards for coffee & questions at The Galway Atlantaquaria. Further info and RSVP here: https://www.coastwatch.org/event-details/free-coastwatch-survey-training-at-grattan-beach-galway-city

Stay tuned for more info on upcoming training events!

Mighty Mayo keeps calling me back. This weekend I had the pleasure of staying with @miriambyrne2 in her beautiful home overlooking the Achill Sound. She had me jigging, singing, swimming, star gazing as it was International Observe the Moon night, teaching a workshop, selling a few bits and thoroughly enjoying every second of the Achill/Currane Féile.
Miriam is a legend and a lesson in making the most of this one short and precious life. ❤️💚

🎉 Yesterday was a special day at Cuilmore Community National School as MSLETB visited the school to celebrate its recent transfer of patronage and welcome it as the first Community National School under MSLETB patronage.

It was a wonderful opportunity to meet with pupils, staff, parents and Principal Tracy Hanley and mark the beginning of an exciting new chapter for the school community.

As part of the celebration, the school was presented with a LEGO Education SPIKE set and an iPad to support STEM, digital learning and creativity in the classroom. Through the MSLETB network, pupils will also benefit from a wide range of opportunities, including coding, robotics, XR learning experiences and outdoor education programmes.

The day ended on a sweet note with a visit from an ice cream van, which was enjoyed by all the pupils! 🍦

We look forward to supporting Cuilmore Community National School as it continues its proud tradition of educational excellence in Mayo, and we are delighted to welcome the entire school community to #TeamMSLETB! 👏
