A much-loved area of green space in South Lynn has been given lasting protection after Harding’s Pits was registered as a Village Green.

Norfolk County Council approved our application to voluntarily dedicate the council-owned land west of Harding’s Way as a Village Green. The application was considered by Norfolk County Council’s Planning (Regulatory) Committee on Tuesday 20 October 2026.

The protected area includes Harding's Pits Doorstep Green, the South Lynn Community Orchard and Beuys’ Acorns.

On this episode of Art of Interference, host Jennifer Gutman speaks with British creative duo Heather Ackroyd and Dan Harvey about their pioneering grass portraits and the role of visual art in climate activism. She also talks with Vanderbilt professor Zee Tzankova and grassland conservationist Jeremy French about the environmental costs of chemically intensive lawncare and the importance of protecting and restoring critical grassland habitats. Grass may serve as the backdrop to summer picnics and kickball games, but the artists, scientists, and conservationists featured in this episode highlight the ways grass connects us to each other and to the basic, life-sustaining processes of all living things.

Art of Interference @artofinterference explores creative responses to climate change. We feature artists whose work encourages us to retune the relations of nature and technology, the human and the more-than-human. We ask climate scientists about their research and how it chimes with the interventions of contemporary artists. Additionally, we speak to activists, cultural critics, and policymakers about the need to develop a new ethics appropriate to our twenty-first century of planetary crisis.

Last day! | Son gün! ✨ “BOTANICALS” ✨ 16.07—14.08.2026
Curator: Gary Sangster Artists: Ackroyd & Harvey, Benjamin Jones, Eamon O’Kane, Deirdre O’Mahony, Rosemary Laing, Wendy McMurdo 📍VISION LONDON / 34 Mortimer Street, London, WIW 7JS

Plant-life is an astonishing, renewable resource, even more extensive and pervasive than the complexity of Animalia. The artists included in Botanicals operate in a variety of registers. Their range includes manipulated plant-life images in black and white that refine the positive/negative relationship of the organic form in nature, unexpected interventions in the forest floor, a dialogue between the natural and the commercial in agriculture, the hyper-growth of the jungle, the slow growth of trees in silhouette against a white ground, the unruly, unpredictable effects of untended glasshouses, the slow growth of trees in silhouette against a white ground, or an organic depiction of cultural activism in the Brazilian Amazon produced from living grasses.

Plant-life is an astonishing, renewable resource, even more extensive and pervasive than the complexity of Animalia. It has been hewn, harvested, cultivated and manipulated, and now genetically modified as well.
