A master of narrative and atmosphere, East Coast artist David Blackwood remains one of Canada’s most compelling printmakers. His work, shaped by myth, legend, and the stark drama of the Atlantic landscape, continues to resonate across generations. Blackwood is currently being celebrated in Myth & Legend at the Art Gallery of Ontario, a powerful testament to his enduring legacy.

This 1980 intaglio has been framed with considered restraint and precision. Museum Warm White top matt and the darker "coal mine" bottom mat with a reverse bevel introduce quiet dimensionality, while 99 percent Museum glass ensures long term preservation. The stunning Black Wave frame, finished with subtle red highlights, anchors the work with understated strength. The bottom mat lined with a 1 ply museum mat completes the composition, a detail executed with care by Nancy.

After seven distinguished years in our original space, Akasha Art Projects sought grander horizons. Our current exquisite location in Cabbagetown offered the perfect expansion. Initially, we occupied the main space, later adding a sophisticated woodshop in the basement. Subsequently, we acquired the "Loft," an adjacent freestanding building now dedicated to our fine art printing department.

This new chapter underscores our unwavering commitment to quality, artistic excellence and innovation within our comprehensive art services. Thank you for being part of our elevated journey.

News of the corporate bankruptcy came rly suddenly a few months ago. I seized up.

Put your hand up if Gibraltar Point shaped you.

As a city kid, getting out to that sand bar was a big deal. Then as an adult, an artist, an even bigger one. I did a deep dive into my childhood visits there, on decay, on studios, and home. The island school changed me forever. All of you freaks who helped make me me there, this mage of sentiment and history, screw you. 💙✨

Deep gratitude to Maandeeq Mohamed for the sensitive edit once again, to @stephenandrewsartist : covergirl, for lending this incredible drawing End of Summer (2015) and @paulpetrocanada for letting us visit it, and to the crew of friends and mentors who held me there, and all the islanders who saved our beloved schoolhouse from the bulldozers and continue to after 25 years.

I uncovered a trove of old photos of Gibraltar while working on this, and I needed to share some.
