This is what community-led change looks like 💫

From athlete to advocate, @equitydesigninc Founder & CEO Maurelhena Walles (@mylane_4) is building healthier, more equitable communities in the Bronx — alongside community leaders who show up and lead with purpose. Featuring CAA coach Faith Shaw and former CAA coach & VISTA Taleek Norman, helping prove that movement, access, and opportunity can truly change the game.

The People’s Curator @jbruny and the master artist @kar_part are back at it, painting at one of the most historic community spaces in @lacountyparks : the Jackie Robinson Community Center in Sun Village.

But this one is extra special…

Back in 1984, when I was just 4 years old, a powerful woman named Jessie L. Carroll, along with several phenomenal women from the #SunVillageWomensClub , held bake sales gathered volunteers, personal donations, and later county partnerships to help build this very community center. No big budgets. No shortcuts.

Just love, vision, and a commitment to lifting others up on their way up.

Fast forward to today, and her spirit is still alive in these walls.

Standing here, painting, creating, and breathing life back into this space reminds us why we do the work. It inspires our team to know that one day @musicchanginglives will have community hubs like this all over, places where young and old can gather, heal, create, and enjoy the murals, gardens, art labs, and studios we leave behind for generations to come.

This is legacy work.

This is community memory.

This is honoring those who built before us, and building forward with purpose.

#ase #musicchanginglives #communityfirst #loveyourblock what a way to close the year! 2026 here we come…

Thanks to the incredible generosity of this community, last weekend we got checks in the hands of 60 families—and this weekend we will distribute the remainder of the 250 checks cut for families affected by the LA fires.

These immediate funds are crucial for those rebuilding their lives after devastating loss. With your support we know that $250k is just the beginning of what we can raise to support our neighbors.

If you have been impacted by the LA fires and are in need of financial support, please apply at CaliforniaStrong.org.

January is typically a fun and exciting month as we join clients in kicking off a new year of content with updated strategies and refined goals. But this month was different.

The political climate and LA wildfires deeply impacted our community, clients, and colleagues. Swipe through to see how we turned words into action—and why being a catalyst for purpose is always our top priority.
