🌾Highlights from the Field of Her Own event in Donegal🌾

We look back at what was a very successful Field of Her Own event last Thursday, May 28th, at The Milk Bar in Co Donegal. It was jam-packed day, in glorious sunshine, celebrating the key role women play in Irish farming.

We had two panel discussions, one focusing on diversification making positive changes to farms, while the other centred around the role social media is playing on telling the story of Irish farming and female farmers, but also in putting Irish agriculture’s best foot forward to the public.

We had numerous local agri services and businesses supporting the day’s activities, and there was plenty of opportunity for sharing ideas and experiences throughout the day.

This event is one of many IFA will hold through 2026, which is the International Year of the Woman Farmer.

There are so many positive things happening in Irish farming at the moment - one of them is the growing number of bright, strong & witty women farmers who are doing the work, using their socials to tell their stories, make money & access opportunities. Loved meeting these three in Donegal yesterday @anniemcguinness @action_agri @jr.aglife and thank you to the future - and first woman - IFA president (you heard it here first…) Shannon @themilkbar2021

Field of her Own, Empowering the Women of Agriculture 👩🏻‍🌾

Speaking on stage telling my story alongside such incredible inspiring women in the Agricultural Industry was certainly one for the books

Never in a million years did I ever see myself on a panel chatting away to @ellamcs but there you go it’s wild what life can throw at you!

Social media has given me the most incredible connections with fellow women in Ag, 2026 is the International Year of Women Farmers so let’s keep doing what we are doing ladies & keep thriving on💪🏼👩🏻‍🌾

Shannon @themilkbar2021 & the @ifa.ie , what an event 👏🏼 I know the hard work @shannon_porter16 put into this whole event & for it to be an absolute success, I couldn’t be prouder of you ♥️
