For our incredible team and the care they put into our work. For our community and everything it gives to us in the form of events, special rides, trail days, and Tuesday night group rides.

For everyone who trusts us to service their bike in ways big or small, and made the trip through/over/under/around the construction downtown to pay us a visit and give us their business. For all of the AMAZING new bikes we put under excited riders this season.

For the special place that is Guelph and its amazing trail networks and the quiet gravel roads that surround us in Wellington County.

There's a whole lot to be grateful for. Thank you for being a part of what allows us to be Bike People for a living. We'll never take you for granted.

Enjoy the beautiful long weekend and we'll see you on Tuesday 🥧🦃🫶

A quick look back at the Guelph Transportation Summit 2026. It was a day full of thoughtful conversations, ideas, and a great lineup of speakers. All building momentum around transit, walking, cycling, and the future of transportation in our city. Grateful for everyone who joined us, presented, or volunteered - all making the event a big success. See you next year! @bicyclemayorto @guelphsc @getonthebus.ca @moretransitso @guelph.transit @cityofguelph @sustainabledan_ @taaguelph @activeguelph #getonthebus #activetransportation #guelph

A beautiful weekend in Guelph spent being active.

It was fun talking with likeminded folks about how to improve the city’s active transportation network to make Guelph the city it wants to be! Safer, sustainable, equitable, affordable and healthier for everyone. ✌🏼😻✊🏼

On Saturday, I had the privilege of attending and presenting at the Guelph Transportation Summit.

I shared how cycling gave me the freedom and independence as a kid. 🚲 🤸‍♂️

Since my childhood days, Guelph has grown 117% (71,200 people in 1981 to 154,800 in 2024), and is projected to reach 196,000 by 2041.

Today, 64% of school trips are made by walking, busing or cycling, compared with just 35% by car.

60% of all trips in Guelph are under 7.5 km, distances where e-bikes can be a practical alternative to driving.

With 79% of trips currently made by car or truck, there is a huge opportunity to shift more trips to walking, cycling and transit.

Fewer motor vehicles on our streets are safer and more accessible for everyone.

Guelph is also aging. Children 15 and under and adults 65+ each make up 16.4% of the population.

As more people age out of driving, we need transportation options that allow people to remain independent and connected to their communities. Just as no young adult wants to rely on their parents to get around, no independent 85 year old wants to rely on their children.

(As the caregiver to an aging mother with growing mobility issues, I don’t want her driving, nor do I want to drive…). 😬

It’s a growing conundrum for many families. 🙈

Over the next four years, I hope Guelph:

🚌 Delivers on its transit modernization plan
🚶‍♀️ Prioritizes Vision Zero and safer streets
🚲 Expands safe, separated cycling infrastructure
⚡ Pilots a Guelph Transit-managed micromobility program
🌾 Capitalizes on economic opportunities in cycling and agri-tourism
🛣️ Reduces traffic speeds to make walking and cycling safer for people of all ages and abilities

Transportation isn't just about getting from A to B. It's about freedom, independence, connection and opportunity. It’s also about equity and quality of life.

Huge shoutout to @activeguelph and @taaguelph for organizing a great event!

We did it! The first ever Kidicial Mass in Guelph had 25 people riding through the Two Rivers/Ward neighborhood from Lyon Park Playground to Royal City Park! It was a beautiful day and the start to what we hope will become a monthly tradition in 2027. DM to be a part of our organizing group or to help in any other ways! Thank you to @mike_darmon and the other @activeguelph folks including @bicyclemayorguelph Andrea Bidgood and Robertson and Greg from @freehubgtl for tuning things up for people. Thank you Kim from @doublerainbowcafe.guelph for being a great DJ!

Who is in to help plan for 2027?

What a wonderful weekend of Guelph showing up for each other!

From supporting Hope House’s work to address poverty and food insecurity at Hope in the Street, to lighting up our streets at Bike the Night, to raising funds for better healthcare at Taste of Guelph, and building belonging at the Friends of Friends Community Connection Expo.

So many great people and organizations are working to make our community a better place. And I'm proud to be part of it! ❤️

Amazing turnout for our 6th annual GCAT @activeguelph BIKE THE NIGHT GLOW RIDE party on 2 wheels! After a rousing speech by our MPP @mikeschreinergpo who will continue to fight for bike lanes ,best wishes from our MP @orourkeforguelph , our @bicyclemayorguelph and our GCAT chair -we rode into the night!
The ride from @downtownguelph took advantage of our new protected biking infrastructure on Wyndham street connecting us safely to the river trail on York road park. We then proceeded into the heart of the historic Ward on Alice street where neighbours cheered us on. This was the first time we were able to collaborate with the amazing @praisethewardguelph festival and many riders attended their venues throughout the day and into the evening.
Great seeing our City Councillor ( and Mayoral candidate) @leanne4mayor along with Katherine Hauser @hauserward6 @kim_fryforward2 ,@dakotacherryforguelph and @councillorcaton attend!
Huge thanks to Mike @vondehnhomes for being our bike parking sponsor. !!
And a huge shout out to our friends at @freehubgtl for last minute bike checks.
Most of all HUGE KUDOS to our GCAT team who make it all possible by our advocacy to make our streets safer for all users.
Please consider joining us at gcat.ca

Guelph showed up and lit it up. 🔦🚲

Bike the Night = bikes, lights, a whole lot of people, and one seriously good Saturday night.

Turns out bikes are pretty fun after dark. Who knew? 😏

Already looking forward to the next one.
