Rose and I aren’t moving weights simply to burn calories.

We’re training our bodies to be stronger, more capable and more confident for LIFE.

This squat + upright row combines lower-body and upper-body work into one challenging compound movement.

Rose and I aren’t doing these heavy kettlebell lunges because we need another workout.

We’re building bodies that WORK.

After 50, training your legs gives you three huge advantages:

• MORE MUSCLE + SHAPE
Loaded lunges hammer your glutes, quads and hamstrings while helping build the strong, athletic legs you want.

• BETTER BALANCE + STABILITY
Training one leg at a time challenges your hips, core, coordination and stability. Those aren’t “gym skills.” They’re LIFE skills.

• MORE STRENGTH FOR REAL LIFE
Stairs. Travel. Hiking. Getting off the floor. Carrying things. Playing with your grandkids. Living independently.

This is why we train after 50.

Not simply to look younger.

To stay strong, confident and CAPABLE for everything still ahead of us.

I keep seeing the younger generation doing the Cha Cha Slide pull-up challenge.

So at almost 59, I figured I’d join the party.

But there’s a bigger message here.

This isn’t about proving I’m stronger than somebody who’s 25.

It’s about proving what is still possible at 50, 60 and beyond when you keep training your body instead of surrendering it to a number.

Pull-ups are one of my favorite tests of real-world strength.

You’re moving your own body through space.

Your back works.
Your arms work.
Your shoulders work.
Your grip works.
Your core has to stabilize everything.

And when you throw some music, rhythm and FUN into it?

Now training stops feeling like punishment.

Research backs up something I’ve believed for 30+ years as a coach: when people enjoy movement and have variety in their training, they’re more likely to stay engaged with it.

And consistency is where the transformation happens.

You don’t need to do this challenge tomorrow.

You don’t even need to be able to do one pull-up yet.

But please stop deciding what your body is capable of based on the year printed on your birth certificate.

Train.

Get stronger.

Challenge yourself.

Laugh a little.

Turn up the music.

And every once in a while, go show the kids what almost 59 looks like.

Strong isn’t an age.

It’s a choice.

OVER 50? STOP TRYING TO CARDIO YOUR WAY TO A BETTER BODY.

If you’re spending hours on the treadmill trying to lose fat but barely doing any strength training, you’re missing one of the most important pieces.

Cardio has benefits. Keep it.

But after 50, MUSCLE MATTERS.

🔥 Strength training helps you:

BUILD & PRESERVE MUSCLE
Muscle becomes increasingly important as we age. If you don’t challenge it, you risk losing it.

CHANGE YOUR BODY COMPOSITION
Stop obsessing over simply weighing less. The goal is less excess fat while preserving or building lean muscle.

BUILD REAL-WORLD STRENGTH
Rows, presses, squats and resistance exercises prepare your body to lift, carry, climb, travel, play and LIVE.

BUILD CONFIDENCE
There’s something powerful about realizing, “Holy crap… I’m stronger than I thought.”

And you don’t need two hours in a gym.

As I’m showing you here, bands and basic resistance exercises can challenge your muscles anywhere.

After 50, don’t just train to burn calories.

TRAIN TO BUILD SOMETHING.

Build muscle.
Build strength.
Build confidence.
Build the body that’s going to carry you through your next 30+ years.

STOP TRYING TO GET SMALLER. START GETTING STRONGER.

Because STRONG ISN’T AN AGE. IT’S A CHOICE.

OVER 50? STOP TRAINING YOUR LEGS LIKE YOU’RE OLD.

You don’t need a fancy gym or complicated workout to build strong, capable legs.

🔥 3 LEG EXERCISES YOU CAN DO AT HOME

1. CHAIR SQUATS
Build your quads, glutes and hips while reinforcing one of the most important abilities for life: getting your body up and down under its own power. Strength here means better function, confidence and independence.

2. ALTERNATING LUNGES
Train each leg individually while challenging your glutes, quads, hip stability, coordination and balance. That matters even MORE after 50.

3. JUMP SQUATS
For those who can safely perform them, jump squats train lower-body power and explosiveness—qualities we tend to lose as we age if we don’t deliberately train them.
Not ready to jump? Do a fast bodyweight squat or squat-to-calf-raise instead.

Your legs aren’t supposed to get weak because you turned 50.

Train them. Challenge them. KEEP them.

Because STRONG ISN’T AN AGE. IT’S A CHOICE.

Save this workout and send it to somebody who plans on being a badass at 60, 70 and beyond.

WANT YOUR INNER THIGHS TO STOP BEING BEST FRIENDS?

Then stop doing those cute little “inner-thigh” exercises.

Pick up some damn weight.

This elevated wide-stance kettlebell movement challenges your adductors, glutes and legs through a bigger range of motion.

And after 50, that’s what I want:

MORE MUSCLE. MORE STRENGTH. MORE CAPABILITY.

Now, before somebody loses their mind in the comments…

No exercise can magically choose where your body loses fat.

But building muscle, getting stronger, improving your nutrition and reducing overall body fat?

THAT changes your body.

You don’t need to train like you’re 25.

You need to train like you plan on being a BADASS at 75.

Strong isn’t an age. It’s a choice.
