Time changes so much! @aerialeast is a friend, collaborator and one of the artists I most loved seeing live. In 2013 she asked me, or I asked her, I honestly can’t remember to shoot a music video for her forthcoming album Rooms. I would listen to Crazy Now every day & night right before bed and kept a dream journal to take notes on whatever visuals came to me. I kept seeing visions of her falling into a peaceful abyss and knew I wanted the video to be like a literal dream. What seems crazy now is that I felt we could pull this off for the total budget of $5K, which was all the money I had. My ace in the hole was that big friend family of mine. It was an ambitious two day shoot and months long edit but I knew it was worth it. When it came out I was honestly so worn down, broke & full of self doubt that I was convinced I had failed. I had a tendency to view my work so very harshly. 3 years later the album came out & the video got some traction on YouTube but I still doubted it. The album, Rooms is now 10 years old and this video 13! When I look at it now I am in awe of myself & my beautiful friends. The people who I so loves, I rarely see anymore, but seeing these pictures I am overwhelmed with love and all those friends who showed up for me and Aerial. We made something so beautiful, fun and me. For anyone making things and full of doubt, just know, validation rarely comes from the outside and honestly rarely means as much as you want it to. Making things and expressing yourself is the reward. The people in your life who support you are the gift. I couldn’t be more proud of what we made together. I miss & love this whole crew eternally! Set against the vast and wild expanse of British Columbia’s Hanson Island, NORTHERN RESIDENTS chronicles the decades-long journey of Paul Spong and Helena Symonds, who have devoted their lives to understanding and preserving one of Earth’s most mysterious and profound species: the Northern Resident orcas of the Pacific Northwest. In this sanctuary they call the @orcalabbc ,a network of hydrophones and remote cameras allows them to observe the orcas’ lives from afar, listening in on their unique, language-rich calls, the enduring tradition of family, and a social structure that, at its core, embodies the principles of peace and resilience. In the delicate, symphonic world of orcas, sound is everything. As Paul and Helena track the orcas’ movements year after year, they reveal families bound by unbreakable ties, where generations live, travel, and communicate together—each family distinguished by its own dialect, traditions, and calls passed from mother to offspring. It’s a harmony born of patience and respect, where conflicts are rare and community is paramount. Unlike humankind, the orcas know that survival depends on balance and cohesion within their pod, ignoring what they cannot control and focusing only on nurturing their own.The orcas offer us a mirror and a call to action. In their calls, Paul and Helena find not only the rhythms of nature but a blueprint for living, one that holds the power to reshape our world if only we have the courage to answer it. Through intimate glimpses into the orcas’ lives, NORTHERN RESIDENTS poses a question both simple and profound: Can we, as humans, learn to live as the orcas do, in symbiosis with each other and our environment, preserving the world for those who come after us? The film is currently in post production.

Breaking news! Highsnobiety has been hacked, and like all the leading hard news outlets, we are getting to the bottom of it. On Tuesday, a cryptic symbol was uploaded to our channels, the only clue left behind being an obscure caption: “Make Something.” Soon thereafter, a similar star symbol was spotted tagged in Tompkins Square Park. Head to the link in bio for the latest developments. Join us at the scene: E. 10TH ST 4/24/25 40.726567692656644, -73.98177337525173 17:00 - 19:00 🎥: @elstudioandres
