Northeast Ballet has been my home for the past 13 years, and it breaks my heart to say goodbye. Performing on this stage every year has truly been a blessing. Proctors stage has truly become a second home, and leaving it is something that I will truly grieve. Behind I leave some of my best friends, favorite teachers, and an abundance of lifelong memories. Part of me hopes that someday I will get to dance on this stage again, but if not, this was a pretty good way to end it.

Our oldest daughter has been doing classical ballet since she was 5 years old, first in the Nutcracker with @northeastballet and as a student with @myersballetschool.

I remember the excitement to see the little gingerbreads come onstage at @atproctorstheatre and see her up there, I know I must’ve cried it was so cute and adorable.

When she was 8 & 9 years old she got to be Clara and a very talented young man she called “Mr. Lucas” was her Nutcracker. It was such a special experience and Mr. Lucas always had a special place in my heart because of how sweet and kind he was and it was such a great memory.

Over the years Leven has gone on to perform as a party girl, doll, snowflake, marzipan, flowers, I know I am missing a few, but each year I am there in the audience with tears in my eyes watching our little girl perform. And also over those years Mr. Lucas went on to other companies and I remembered him so fondly every year when the timehop photos would come up.

This year for one of the @northeastballet performances, Levy will get to be the Sugar Plum Fairy, and her cavalier will be Mr. Lucas, who I last saw dancing with her when she was a curly haired little girl Clara. To see them in the studio dancing together was so sweet and beautiful, Levy seemingly all grown up, with her Nutcracker.

I know that probably only crazy ballet moms will understand this, but it’s also true I think for sports and theater, the bonds they make and the memories that are shared. It’s especially true with our experience with @northeastballet Nutcracker, the cast really does start to feel like one big (sometimes crazy) family in a lot of ways. These kids start out as tiny gingerbreads onstage for two minutes and next thing you know they are a Snow Queen with a tiara and you don’t know where the time went. @ad418153 I don’t know how you do it every year but you create this magic. And @lucas.george.0621 I can’t wait to see the two of you perform together again (and he will be the Nutcracker for the weekend performances too!). I’ll try to keep the sobbing down to a discreet minimum. ♥️ #ballet #nutcracker #dancemoms
