Amy Blaxland (@blxlnd) was My Beloved Enemies costume designer. We’ve worked with her before and she always makes magic, but this shoot was a huge ask. For a budget of around $2K for rentals, we asked her to create twelve - period appropriate and accurate looks. We’re talking victorian dresses, medieval gowns with corsetry, vintage furs from the 30s, tartans worthy of celtic century warrior queens and doomsday hippies. And that’s not even mentioning the private school mums. For fun, once all the looks were finalized, we realized we literally wouldn’t have enough time in the shooting schedule to create all the hair looks, so asked Amy to find us a plethora of period appropriate hats for what we could spare - which was $100. She of course hit it out of the park! Amy found it all, each piece more gorgeous, period accurate and able to reflect and deepen the characters more than we had ever hoped. Round of applause for Amy!

ITS ALRIGHT by @fujiikaze 💐 dir. by @ninamcneely I had the opportunity to lead the makeup team for Fujii Kaze’s dance team in this beautiful music video! The dancers’ makeup was heavily influenced by Japanese butoh and adapted to fit the narrative directed by Nina McNeely. Butoh explores transformation through raw, often surreal expression. For the video, the dancers were painted in blotchy washes of @kryolanofficial Aquacolor and dirtied up to tie them to the world they are transcending from. To my dancers: thank you so much for trusting me and my team—getting into full-body paint at 4 AM is not for the weak <3 Each one of you is incredibly talented and gracious. I can’t wait to see what comes next! So much love and gratitude to my incredible team of artists who got all of these dancers ready in just an hour and a half:* @itsajlauren @harrietmakingfaces @fate.creates @ad__vertising @tinageee @j.e.makeups I also got the chance to assist Yayoi Sasaki, Fujii Kaze's makeup artist from Japan, on the second day of the shoot and it was such an honor to help bring the stunning glam element of this video to life. Thank you so much @jason_baum for reaching out to me!
