Spoke alongside Adam for AIGA Maine about working with friends.

Then went to rose city comic con with Wacom to draw and talk on a big screen.

Working on my deck to start speaking and traveling more.
especially if it’s summer and or a warm place but heck I’d do Finland in February.

A week ago today I was in Portland, Maine speaking at AIGA Maine’s Design Fest. In recent years so much of my work has been online, and it was such a treat to be with a group in person (and banana map IRL!).

The theme of this year’s AIGA Maine Design Fest was CONNECTIONS, and all I know is we need way more of this in the world!

I’ll share more about my talk soon, but first I want to give a massive thank you to Emily Foran (@foran_concepts) and the entire @aigamaine team. What you put together was so impressive and inspiring and I felt lit up interacting with participants and fellow speakers.

Thank you Kirk Wallace (@bonehaus) and Adam Danielson (@adam__danielson) for the very human look at balancing connections for teamwork, @jordandeneellis for the friendly reminder that we can share our work more than once (and has me pumped to play with Adobe Express), Ryan Adams (@ryanwritesonthings) and Rachel Gloria Adams (@rachelgloriaia) for showing us the power of murals to engage and bring together community, Rebecca Brooker (@beccabrooker @planthousestudio) for giving a voice to queer design (shout out @queerdesignclub), and Andrew Elijah Edwards (@aelijoide) for insights into the fact that we no longer know what’s real in today’s world and reminder that there are still many questions to ask around AI.

I’m particularly grateful to Vince (@pronounceddoobay) went to three supermarkets to get enough bananas for everyone to map on! 🍌

THANK YOU TO EVERYONE BEHIND THE SCENES who helped make this such a special day. ❤️ I truly loved connecting this community.

Huge thanks to the team at @aigamaine for putting together such an incredible Design Fest last week!

Special thanks to @amyparkerdesign for capturing the Typewalk @girlthatdesigns and I co-hosted — that hour flew by. Hearing where everyone had traveled from gave me goosebumps, and it was so fun to nerd out with people who love spotting type and design in the wild. We capped it off with a great time at @thirstypigportland afterwards.

The conference at @portlandmuseum was super inspiring — such an amazing lineup of talented speakers I’ve admired for years. I especially loved hearing from @bonehaus, @adam__danielson, @beccabrooker, @ryanwritesonthings, and @rachelgloriaia. Thank you all for sharing your work and ideas with us.

Already counting down to next year 😏🥳

Today we ventured out into the wider Maine world to see some frens, learn some things, and draw on some bananas at @aigamaine design fest 2025 at the @portlandmuseum 10/10 highly recommend.
