Not the ending we imagined… but definitely not the end. ❤️

We still can’t quite believe we’re writing this, but today we won’t be crossing the finish line of IRONMAN Barcelona.

Due to the severe storm that hit Calella and the surrounding area overnight and into what should have been race day, the race was cancelled less than 14 hours before the start. Having seen some of the devastation first-hand, we know it was the right decision. The safety of athletes, volunteers, emergency services and the local community has to come first.

But knowing it was the right decision doesn’t make it hurt any less.

For over a year, we’ve dedicated such a huge part of our lives to getting to that start line. Hundreds of hours swimming, cycling and running. Early mornings, late nights, long weekends, sacrifices, tired legs, tears, laughs and more gels than we ever want to see again. To get all the way here, with the bikes built, transition bags packed and everything ready to go, only to have that moment taken away is honestly devastating.

But this was always about so much more than an IRONMAN.

We started this journey to do something huge in Caitlin’s memory and raise as much as possible for Cardiac Risk in the Young. That hasn’t changed. We WILL complete a full IRONMAN for Caitlin. We don’t know where or when yet, but we’ll get there.

Our JustGiving page is staying open until we do exactly that. We’ve been blown away by the amount raised and every donation, share and message has meant more than we can put into words. Let’s see just how much we can raise for her before we finally cross that finish line.

Thank you to everyone who has supported us over the last 12 months and for all the messages since the cancellation. It really does mean the world.

For now, we’ll process what’s happened, regroup and work out what comes next.

This isn’t the end. If anything, it’s the beginning — redemption arc to follow!

Stick with us. We’ll get this done together. For Caitlin. ❤️

30K for Caitlin 💜

Yesterday was everything I hoped it would be and more.
What started as a way to honour what would have been Caitlin’s 30th birthday became a truly special day, surrounded by friends, family, classmates, teammates and so many people whose lives were touched by Caitlin.

Seeing everyone come together to run, support, volunteer, donate and share memories was incredibly emotional. The love and support shown throughout the day was overwhelming and a reminder of just how much Caitlin meant to so many people.

Together we’ve now raised over £5,000 for Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY), helping to raise awareness and support a cause that means so much to all of us.

Thank you to everyone who ran a mile, 30 kilometres, or anything in between. Thank you to those who donated, helped organise the day, handed out water and jelly babies, cheered from the sidelines, and supported us from afar.

From the moment I decided to take on Ironman in Caitlin’s memory for CRY, you’ve always been there for me, supporting every challenge and every fundraiser along the way. Your encouragement and means more than you’ll ever know, and I’m so thankful to have shared this special day with you all.

You all helped create a day filled with laughter, stories, friendship and love — exactly the kind of day Caitlin would have loved.

Just a quick thank you ❤️

After Thursdays emotional video, I was genuinely overwhelmed by the messages, comments, and support. It means more than I can put into words.

As much as this week has brought its challenges, this was never about me — it’s about Caitlin, celebrating what would have been her 30th birthday, raising awareness, and supporting CRY in her memory.

Stay tuned throughout today as we’ll be sharing the full 30K route and final arrangements for tomorrow’s event.

30K FOR CAIT 🤍

On the 7th of June, we’ll be running 30 kilometres in honour of what would have been Caitlin’s 30th birthday.

The route will take us through places that meant something to her and to all of us who loved her — starting in Uddingston, through Tannochside and Bellshill, before heading back through Bothwell and finishing where we started at Caitlin’s memorial bench. 🤍

This is about remembering Caitlin, celebrating her, raising money for CRY, and bringing people together.

We would absolutely love for anyone to join us — whether that’s the full 30K, 5K, 1K, or even just a small section of the route. Every single step means something.

We’d also really appreciate any support along the way. If anyone would like to help hand out waters, jelly babies, snacks, encouragement, or just come along and cheer everyone on, it would mean the world to us.

We’ll finish back at the memorial bench where we can spend time together, raise a toast to Caitlin, and hopefully raise as much money and awareness as possible in her memory. ✨
