Five minutes before tonight’s rehearsal, we found out that although our scheduled opening night was almost two weeks away, tonight’s run through would be our first and last performance of Mother Courage and Her Children.
◾️
We performed this beautiful show for our department chair, our amazing director, our composer, our lighting designer, our music director, our production head, our voice and movement coach, our stage managers, and ourselves. It was a special night. We got to both celebrate and mourn what a special production this would have been. We all cried. A lot. ◾️
For a bunch of us (myself included), it was our last night as Hunter College Theatre students. Tonight was our senior show. ◾️
Goodbye, Eilif. You were taken from me too soon. It was great to work with you over the past several weeks. I learned so much from you. I sincerely hope our paths cross again. I did things with this character that I didn’t know I was capable of. ◾️
A huge thank you to Shadi and the whole cast and crew of Mother Courage for pushing me and teaching me so much this semester. I am so grateful to each and every one of you brilliant artists. I sincerely hope I get the chance to work with you all again. ◾️
Goodbye, Hunter Theatre Department. Boy, am I gonna miss you. What a special hidden gem of a theatre program we have in the Baker Theatre Building on East 67th Street. The friends I made, the artistic growth my professors fostered in me (the biggest of shout outs to two absolute all stars Benjamin and Adrienne), the incredible guidance in puppetry I got from Claudia, and the unforgettable experience of working on both main stage shows this year. These experiences and these people are what shaped my college education. They changed my life. Changed who I am both as an artist and as a person. I am so very grateful for the time I had as a Hunter theatre student. I am completely devastated that I have to leave so early and so abruptly. ▪️
“When the moon on the rooftop shines white, we’ll be coming back. You can pray for that night.” Right now, all we can do is pray for that night. I am praying for that night. Thank you to my Hunter College Theatre family. I love you all. 💜
