Of the 10 leadership principles I teach, the one that is arguably the most directly associated with my role as a leader (as opposed to proper business management roles), is the idea of “Guidance”. Here’s my definition.

1. Guidance defined (Oxford dictionary): “advice or information aimed at resolving a problem or difficulty, especially as given by someone in authority; the directing of the motion or position of something, especially a missile.”.
2. Guidance defined (BK): “advice or information aimed at directing the motion of someone.”.

Leaders are not there to give the answers, but to teach others how to reach their own answers. My Moto to people on my team: do not come to me with problems, come to me with Solutions. This in turn Drives innovation. Your team of differing genders, age, cultural backgrounds, education, etc. may have better solutions than you ever would. You have blinds on placed by longevity. They do not. Take advantage of that.
