Good morning, Interneters.

Since our last show in March, we have been quietly writing, rehearsing, and preparing demos in John's basement, and we just spent this weekend at Big Moose Studio recording songs for an upcoming release. As always, we had a great time recording with Phil.

Full disclosure: several pieces of Hubba Bubba and bottles of Gatorade were harmed in the making of this album.

We will have more pictures for you soon.

Now, back to the layer to mix and master these tunes for your ears, so please stay tuned.

See you soon,

Adam, John, Michael and Cadence

“Am I a monster, are there monsters in me?”
This is a question the titular Suttree asks himself later in the book. Other questions pertain to one’s propensity for experiencing bad luck. But does one make their own luck? Is what happens solely determined by our actions and the company we keep? How does one escape that especially when it seems to keep following us?
Throughout the book, I kept hearing a line from Manchester by the Sea in which the main character says he can’t beat what’s been plaguing him as a result of his past. In Suttree, we follow a man recently released from his imprisonment and resettling as a fisherman in an attempt to make a new life and away from his former life. Throughout the three-year-spanning novel, though, in spite of his good intentions, he repeatedly gets caught up in a variety of misadventures (some very funny, very shocking, or a combination of the two) and tragedies with a diverse cast of characters. The first half of the novel feels more episodic whereas the latter half settles into consistency in the plot (perhaps reflective of Suttree’s journey and search for normalcy and structure). There are some aspects left unanswered or vaguely answered, some non-linear storytelling, some abstract imagery-filled passages all of which can be challenging at times, but ultimately, I found this to be a really terrific and rewarding book and I was sad to be done with it even though it felt it was time to say goodbye. I have only 2 more Cormac novels left (the second and third books in the Border trilogy) and I’m feeling a similar sadness at the prospect of saying goodbye.
Thank you @nonfictionfervor for hosting this group read!

BIG THANK YOU to everyone who came out to pack the room at @5ebaron on Saturday evening. What a venue and what a collection of people. We felt your love and loved playing for you all. We hope to do it again soon. The whole evening made for the best π day celebration ever!

Thank you @feel_thespark for playing a ripping great set to open the nite getting the crowd going. You bring a great energy to the stage.

Thank you to the friends and fans that came out to support the community and live music. Your presence made the nite and brought the whole vibe up a notch. Your engagement, smiling faces and energy were something special.

Thank you to 5e Baron for your cozy venue, kindness, support and of course the yummy food and drinks. It is always a pleasure to play here, you know how to treat musicians and fans rite. PS I love the new hat you gave me. Thank you.

And thank you to our very own John @pmf.rec for doing sound for the evening and from behind the kit for our set. This guy can do it all.

It wasn’t easy.

We went through every single application. The level of talent in Ottawa right now is unreal .. and narrowing it down to a final lineup meant making some very tough decisions.

But after careful consideration, we’re proud to officially reveal the artists you need to watch at the very first RiSE UP Ottawa Music Fest.

This festival was built to spotlight the depth, diversity, and raw energy of our local scene — and this lineup represents exactly that.

🔥 Emerging voices
🔥 Established powerhouses
🔥 Genre-spanning talent
🔥 Community-driven energy

Full daily breakdowns and schedule details coming soon.

Let’s make history together.
