This is a Neumann head and I’ve been talking to it for the last three days. Why? Because my play, Black Shuck, has taken a whole new form.

A few years ago, this story began with a one night reading at Stillington Mill, back when, for reasons best known to me, I’d written the whole thing in rhyming couplets! It was folky, quirky with added hell hound.

Since then it’s had live performances in a Church in the Peaks, a Brewery and evolved a lot.

With @nptheatre and super talented collaborator @adampmccready we’ve recorded it as a binaural audio experience, using this wonderfully eerie head to build a 3D sound world, so the story can creep right into your ears. Which feels very right for Black Shuck. Always full of suprises

We recorded it at the former Carlton Studios on sound stage used by orchestra to record TV theme tunes. So this black beast has somehow made the journey from a mill to the home of Supermarket Sweep, Family Fortunes and Bullseye.
Super. Smashing. Great.
And then, just to make things a little weirder, while we were in Nottingham we came across a repurposed lifeboat called Black Shuck.
At that point you do start to feel fate is keeping tabs on things.
I’m really excited by this version of the piece I started writing 6 years ago.
The binaural audio version of Black Shuck will be released in the future. I'll keep ya posted.
HOOWWWWLLLLLLL!!!!!!!!

Was lucky enough to see @phasearcana play live @dubrekstudios earlier this year and grabbed his album expansion//workforce//panoramic. It's a great album based about and around the river Weaver and Cheshire. You can really imagine this playing in an exhibition, plenty of beats,Electronica, and samples to help you glide over the river. Try it for free on Bandcamp, and if you like it, this Friday is Bandcamp Friday, so a great time to support grassroots music.
