Today we took the boys up Monkey Mountain in honor of my suegro’s birthday coming up in a couple of days. 💚

He always wanted to take them there, but he was waiting until they were old enough and strong enough to endure the hike. Today, they finally were.

It was challenging. There were moments they wanted to stop, moments when their little legs were tired, but they kept going. Watching them make it all the way to the top filled me with so much pride. I know he would have been so proud of them too.

I think the hardest part for all of us might have been wearing shoes the whole way up 😂 so on the way back down, we took them off and hiked barefoot.

Feet on the earth. Feeling the ground beneath us. Connecting to the energy of this beautiful place and everything that makes it feel so alive.

I never cease to be amazed by the power of nature. The more time I spend surrounded by it, the more I realize that we don’t just need nature, we are a part of it.

There is something deeply healing about standing beneath the trees, looking out over the mountains, feeling the ocean, and placing your bare feet on the earth. It quiets the noise, brings you back to yourself, and reminds you of what really matters.

Nature has a way of reminding us that we are connected to something so much bigger than ourselves. It holds an energy that can’t always be explained, only felt.

It grounds us. It heals us. It reminds us that simply being alive, here on this beautiful earth, is one of the greatest gifts we will ever be given.

And maybe the people we love don’t completely leave us either. Maybe we find them again in the places they loved, in the wind through the trees, in the views that take our breath away, and in the moments we wish more than anything they were standing beside us.

Happy birthday in heaven, ChillyWilly. 💚

Today we finally took your nietos to one of your favorite places.

They made it all the way to the top.

We could feel you there with us.

And I know you would have been so incredibly proud of them. 💚⛰️

15 years.

Today marks 15 years since I boarded a one way flight to Mexico, completely alone. I was 21, lost, and chasing a life I couldn’t yet imagine.

I didn’t speak the language.
I didn’t know a single soul.
I had never left California.
I had no plan.

Just a feeling deep inside that there had to be more to life than what I’d known so far.

I could have never imagined the life waiting for me here. The love that would find me. The family that would embrace me. The heartbreaks that would shape me. The woman I would slowly become through all of it.

Mexico didn’t just become my home.
It transformed me.

It taught me how to slow down.
How to feel.
How to truly live.

Somehow, that lost girl found herself in a tiny magical town surrounded by jungle, ocean, music, sunsets, storms, and an incredible community. Even after all these years, I still catch myself looking around in disbelief.

How did a place this beautiful exist, and how did I get so lucky to find it?

Fifteen years later, my heart is still full. Still in awe. Still grateful for every chapter, both beautiful and painful.

These years haven’t been perfect. There have been seasons that broke me and chapters I never would have chosen. But I’ve learned that gratitude isn’t about a perfect life. It’s about choosing gratitude because every chapter shaped me into the woman I am today.

If I could go back and hug that brave, desperate girl boarding that plane, I would tell her:

Trust the journey.

The things that are meant for you often exist far beyond the limits of what you can imagine for yourself.

Keep going.

One day you’ll look around at your life and realize the risks, the uncertainty, and the detours were leading you somewhere beautiful.

And somehow, through it all, I found my way home. ✨🌅🇲🇽💛

2026 🦋
This year I’m only making one resolution.. to create more memories with my family.
If 2025 taught me anything, it’s to love your people while you can.

I’m taking more photos.
Saying I love you out loud, often.
Making sure the people I love truly know it.

I want to create moments they can hold onto forever.
To teach them that joy lives in the simple things,
the ordinary moments that end up meaning the most.

Because at the end of it all, love is all that remains.

Today, the town of Sayulita came together in a powerful moment of unity during the surf competition. Not just to celebrate the waves, but to honor the life of Felipe “ChillyWilly.” 🌊💚

ChillyWilly was more than a guardian of the jungle. He was the heart of Sayulita’s wild soul. He cared deeply for the plants, animals, and the people who call this paradise home. His love for nature and community lives on in every tree he protected, every trail he walked, and every smile he inspired. 🌿

As the waves rolled in and the town stood together, it was clear: this is what makes Mexico so special. The way its people show love, strength, and togetherness even in moments of loss. 🇲🇽
