En Flujo (In Flux) opens today at @thirdborn.mx featuring works by @lesleyannecao @amorellejacox @veelazo @sami_e_nicolle and @adapootter I’ll post details of some of the works that are not so easy to see in wider shots later this week! Thank you so much @misamaria_ and @yunacabon for having me! Extracts of the exhibition text below (I’ll post the gallery’s page with a link to the full text in bio for those interested) Our world is shifting. What has felt certain in our lifetime may now feel unstable. What were rooted principles, understanding of greater mechanisms, immovable certitudes has adjusted towards the undefined, the permeable, the precarious. These changes impact us all differently and disproportionately depending on wealth, geography, and access. Borders tighten and loosen unpredictably. Communities are uprooted by climate, conflict, economics. The ground beneath our feet is less solid than we were taught to believe. En Flujo (In Flux) is designed as a porous, living experience in which works evolve, move, and change throughout the duration of the exhibition. At the start of the residency, it will feature the work of five artists, each prompted to think of impermanence as a premise. They each have in common a rigorous conceptual grounding and an interest in art as a dialogue with space, time, environment, and the living systems that surround us. They work and live in Mexico City, but also Manila, and New York City, other places I spent significant time in the past year, and cities themselves shaped by waves of migration, displacement, gentrification, and resilience. Art can live. It can evolve, change, exist away from these fixed, antiquated paradigms. Art can be play. Art can feed. Art can shift our perceptions to create a sense of wonder anchored in moments, not legacy alone. Living with art does not have to mean acquiring something precious and unchanging to preserve for future generations. It can mean welcoming something alive into our space, something that grows with us, responds to us, asks something of us in return.

THIRD BORN presents En Flujo (In Flux), a summer residency exhibition curated by Anne‑Laure Lemaitre (@annelauresees), featuring five artists—Lesley‑Anne Cao, Amorelle Jacox, Veronica Lazo, Sami E. Nicolle, and Ada Potter—whose work rejects permanence in favor of transformation, dialogue, and evolution. Opening Celebration Saturday June 6, 2026 2-6 PM En Flujo (In Flux) is a porous, living exhibition: works will evolve, move, and change over the run of the show; new contributions may appear as the installation responds to its environment and viewers. As Lemaitre asks, “In a moment defined by displacement, instability, and the unraveling of old orders, why should art remain rigid?” Her residency in Mexico City will investigate dwelling temporarily with intention, drawing links between artistic practice and contemporary experiences of migration, relocation, and uncertainty. What might seem impermanent is presented here as a condition rich with possibility. The exhibition will remain on view through July 18, 2026. Here’s just a few of the small works available in our end-of-year auction! Looking for a last-minute gift or eager to collect an artist that you’ve been following for a long time, now is the time! All proceeds benefit Parts & Labor residents and their families. Bid at the link in our bio. Oh! And all of the work has been lovingly framed by our little crew. Some of the works would benefit from archival framing. But in any case, we’re happy to ship in the frame if that’s your preference.

Our April resident has settled into the house! San Antonio: meet Ada Wright Potter and her family. On Wednesday, May 1 @ 4 PM, swing by 407 Devine St. to see Potter’s objects and images installed in the shed studio. Beverages and snacks will be served on the porch. Bring the kids along for backyard arts + crafts. Bio: Potter’s installations re-stage the material qualities of photography using reflective mylar and mirrors to capture and play with light. Despite the popular assumption that images tell stories, Potter’s work points to the fact that they often obscure as much as they elucidate. In her time at Parts & Labor, the artist will continue her work of documenting surfaces, textures, and sites that similarly hold inaccessible stories. Potter has an MFA in Sculpture from Pratt Institute and a BA in Art History & Studio Art from Barnard College. She has been a member of A.I.R. since 2018. She has participated in exhibitions at Transmitter Gallery, Public Swim, NADA Governors Island, Elizabeth Foundation for the Arts, and The Boiler. She has curated exhibitions including Garden Level in 2018 and Future Touch at Hionas Gallery in 2016. She is the creator of Parent Company, an artist-run exhibition space located in a 250-foot shipping container in Downtown Brooklyn.

When @lizkleberg and I left Brooklyn and moved to San Antonio three years ago, our dream was to establish some sort of community-facing art program to share the space we’ve been fortunate enough to occupy. And so @parts_laborsatx artist residency was born with the tremendous help of our director Meaghan Ritchey. Tonight we’re hosting a fundraiser dinner and small works auction at the famous @libertybarsa. The auction opens to the general public online tomorrow morning. Here’s a sneak peek of some amazing works generously donated by artists like @adapootter @michael_gac_levin @themattphillips @matthewffisher @bruce.buescher @suzannedittenber myself and others. Thanks to everyone who bought tickets for the dinner tonight and I’ll post a link to the online auction so everyone out there can get in on the action!!
