ADCC SG champion 🥇

Really happy to have fought against @nathaniel_is_posting on the mats once again. Great fighter and even greater person. Prepped long and hard for this and the grind paid off. Wouldn't have chosen to win any other way.

3 years away from ADCC. Back on the mats. Double Gold. 🥇🥇

After almost three years away from ADCC competition, I stepped back onto the mats today at ADCC Singapore 🇸🇬 and secured gold in both my weight division and the absolute division.

Although I’ve been actively competing in other tournaments recently, returning to ADCC was a great experience and another opportunity to test myself.

In my weight division, I faced a familiar opponent for the third time in the final.

But the biggest surprise came in the absolute division.

Back in 2018, during the MMA tryouts for the Evolve Fight Team, I was assigned as a wrestling coach who filters the participants and check who deserves the spot. Among the participants was a Korean 🇰🇷 athlete trying to earn his place on the team.

Seven years later, unexpectedly, we found ourselves facing each other in the ADCC Singapore final. This time, not as jury and aspire, but as competitors.

It’s interesting how combat sports bring people together at different stages of their journeys.

Today, most of my time is dedicated to coaching, developing young athletes, and building MKA Academy. But I still enjoy stepping onto the mats, challenging myself, and continuing to grow as an athlete.

What makes this weekend even more meaningful is seeing our team grow, our young athletes improve, and their hard work translate into competition performances.

There is always more to learn and improve, both for myself and for the team.

Once an athlete, always an athlete.

Keep learning. Keep competing. Keep improving.
