Sharks are older than trees.

Sharks have existed for roughly 400–450 million years, while the earliest true trees appeared around 385 million years ago.

That means sharks were swimming through Earth’s oceans before forests existed. Before trees. Before flowers. Before dinosaurs. Before the planet looked anything remotely like it does today.

Imagine being a shark and surviving five mass extinction events, watching entire species rise and disappear, and still having your descendants swimming around while humans argue about which direction toilet paper should hang.

Trees are relatively new here. Sharks are the OGs.

You’re welcome. 🦈

🚨 RETURNING TO RUNNING? CHECK YOUR EGO AT THE DOOR. 🚨

Whether you’re coming back from an injury, surgery, or just a long stretch away from running, let’s get one thing straight…
You are NOT picking up where you left off. And that’s okay. 👊

Here are 5 things I want you to remember before you lace up and try to run yourself back into fitness. 👇

🏃‍♂️ 1. DON’T SKIP THE RUN/WALK.
No, you’re not above it. No, it doesn’t make you less of a runner. And no, you don’t get bonus points for running 30 minutes straight on day one. Build back gradually. Your ego can handle it. 😂

🧱 2. BUILD DURABILITY BEFORE FITNESS.
Your cardiovascular fitness might come back quicker than your body’s ability to handle the impact of running. Tendons, muscles, bones, and connective tissues need time to adapt. Don’t confuse feeling good with being ready for more.

📆 3. ALTERNATE DAYS.
More isn’t better. Better is better. Give your body time to recover and adapt between runs. You don’t build durability by constantly testing how much you can get away with.

🧍‍♂️ 4. FOCUS ON FORM & POSTURE.
Relax your shoulders. Stand tall. Keep your stride controlled. Don’t force pace or obsess over every little detail. Focus on moving well and finishing feeling like you could do a little more.

🧠 5. TRAIN WHO YOU ARE, NOT WHO YOU WERE.
This is the big one.
Stop comparing today’s fitness to the version of you who was crushing 40-mile weeks, hitting PRs, or running pain-free six months ago.
That athlete isn’t your starting point today.

Your job isn’t to prove you can still do what you used to do. It’s to build the athlete you’re becoming.
And that takes patience, consistency, and a willingness to leave your ego at home.
The goal isn’t to win the first week back.
THE GOAL IS TO STILL BE RUNNING SIX MONTHS FROM NOW. 🔥

Trust the process. Stack the bricks. Earn the next step.
And for the love of all things running…
STOP TESTING YOUR FITNESS EVERY TIME YOU GO OUT THE DOOR. 😂

Much Love,
Coach T

15 athletes toed the line in Kona. All 15 finished.

On a day where nothing is guaranteed, we brought home a 100% finish rate with some very strong racing. We had stellar rookie debuts, podium finishes, and some gritty and patient racing amongst significant adversity. This team may be small, but we came to fight and left as the 7th highest scoring team on the world’s biggest stage. Every performance mattered.

For now, Mahalo, Kona. See you next year. 🌺

Just wanted to hop on and talk about my favorite protein bar company, @addra_labs @addra_protein_bars . 🤝

I always have these with me, whether I’m running 20 miles, hunting elk in the mountains, or fly fishing in the backcountry. They’re hard to beat, with 20g of protein and 3g of leucine to help support muscle recovery.

If you’re looking for a protein bar that can keep up with your adventures, I highly recommend checking them out!
