$The Story: The 2025 Korean Language Contest In March/April of last year, I came across the inaugural Korean Times Korean Language Contest via the Korean Cultural Center Nigeria's Instagram. The contest required a 2-3 minute video in Korean, a daunting task for someone who would never record herself speaking the language at length. Despite my initial hesitation and fear of speaking on camera, I decided to challenge myself. I submitted my video, knowing it wasn't perfect, but holding onto a sliver of hope. It was a leap of faith, and a significant step in my Korean language journey. When the results were announced in May, I saw the videos of all the winners and my Korean speaking level is nothing compare to them. I went to back to study hard to maximize my vocabulary and grammar level. I also began creating Korean video content to sharpen my speaking skills and actively sought out connections with people who could accelerate my growth. By 2025, I was determined to enter the Korean Language Contest. Since January, I had been mentally preparing, eagerly awaiting the official announcement. On March 10th, when the contest was announced, I knew early preparation and unwavering support were crucial. I contacted 2 to 3 of my friends to help me out with making the video and they enthusiastically agreed to assist. With their support, I confidently submitted my entry on April 1st, 2025 {This is the link to the YouTube video - https://youtu.be/RufyaxQ4Bw0?si=h5uLqazj5qrFbvTh Please like, share and subscribe to my channel} Few days to april, I was having a second thought about the contest of whether it worth the stress or not but I still use hope and faith in Allah guide sha. I am glad I didn't listen to the chicken little thoughts. I saw this quote online and kept chanting it in my head through out the days. 책임감 있게 - You took the responsibility 도망 안 가고 - didn't run away 최선을 다 했어 - and gave it your all 너... - You... 오늘 너무 잘했어 - did really well today Only Allah knows who will win or who will not. But i believe whatever the result is, its for the best a step to a better future. I'm not yet where I envision myself, but I'm moving forward. Photo - @adebhad_studio$
