We recently debuted a wonderful group exhibition titled ICING at CIA Gallery. Curated by fellow CIA agent Katie Cercone, ICING is a examination of queer ecology that features artists from all walks of life including Caroline-Anne MacFarlene, Adehla Lee, Traci Johnson, Dakota Gearhart, and Ama (Metallic Fern).

Thank you to everyone who came out for the opening reception. Congratulations to each one of the artists involved. Kudos to Katie for creating an exhibition with a vivid palette and a cohesive but distinctive flow!

I'm usually sitting at the gallery every Thursdayfrom 12-6 p.m. However, you can DM me or Katie to make an appointment!

What invisible forces do you feel while creating?

“‘Anxiety’ and ‘freedom.’

Usually, I begin a piece with a strong urge to express something inside of me.

I call this ‘anxiety’ because it feels more urgent and psychological than just passion.

As I create, that anxiety slowly turns into ‘freedom.’

It becomes a kind of release, as if something that has been building up inside of me is finally let out.

When I finish, I experience a sense of liberation and relief.” — Adehla Lee, Brooklyn, New York @adehla

Presented by BFA Visual & Critical Studies @svanyc Evening Star is an art exhibition with an immersive, socially-engaged wellness component rooted in matrifocal spiritual ecology and feminine folk wisdom. Invoking shared cultural memory, stirring the colloquial imaginary around the themes of folk and neo-folk practices and aesthetics, archetypal memory, stars, magic, and the wisdom of ancestors, Evening Star centers female energy as limitless, open-ended creative potential.
.
The term ‘Evening Star’ refers to the cycle of Venus as Morning Star (Warrior/yang) and Evening Star (Lover/yin). The hottest and brightest planet in our solar system, Venus, is associated with Feminine energy; her conjunctions with the Sun form a five-pointed star, or, when inverted, a pentagram. Venus’s intersections with the Earth form a sacred heart and, over several cycles, a flower. While ancient Mayans looked to planet Venus when deciding to go to war, Evening Star explores the softer, more intuitive and empathic ‘Lover’ side of the multifaceted female archetype. As a gathering of human currency - an opportunity to raise energy and invoke the unseen realms - this is the veritable ‘food, source and sustenance’ noted in the classical definition of ‘exhibition.’
.
Activating the SVA Flatiron Project space in dynamic ways, February 22 - March 19, 2026 participating artists include @azaranancy @auzit @iamfrei @marciajonesart @lynkeeart @fcflaherty @fannnsystem @juliet_rania @moonlab.xyz @adehla @kay__turner @elizabeth_insogna @damaliabrams @midheavenornah @qinza1 @junkanooacome

On view February 22 – March 19 at the Flatiron Project Space (133 West 21st Street, NYC), BFA Visual and Critical Studies presents Evening Star, curated by faculty member Katie Cercone. Opening Reception: Thursday, February 26, 6–8 PM.

This immersive exhibition explores matrifocal spiritual ecology and feminine folk wisdom through contemporary hybrid practices—storytelling, folklore, herbalism, music and dance, yoga, and ayurveda. Centering shared cultural memory and ancestral knowledge, Evening Star frames female energy as expansive, open-ended creative potential.
